"Was exactly what I needed for a solo bday trip to the area. Minimal, friendly, clean. Didn’t mind that it’s obvious the place has been there a while. The parking lot has a huge pothole, which isn’t great. Just drive around it and be grateful for the great price and nature at your doorstep."

"The room the electric did not work in the bathroom or one wall of the room. I told the owner and he came and looked and said I will fix it. He played around and the electric for the air went out, then the tv electric went out. He never fixed it"

"Enjoyed a 2 nite stay here while attending CATF theatre festival in Shepherdstown. Enjoyed the outdoor hottub after biking on C&O Canal towpath, and fantastic country breakfasts. Views to the west over Antietam battlefields are spectacular! Hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming, including the talking parrot! "

You have to manage expectations because this isn't an ultra modern hotel with a restaurant, bar workout facilities, etc. However if you love history, antiques and the charm of a very unique stay, Light Horse Inn is for you. The room was very large and decorated with timeless antiques. They are very responsive via text for any questions, concerns. "Easy clear check in process. Let us check in early. Walk downtown was longer than we thought it would be with hills. If you’re not in shape to walk would recommend driving there. Ate at the Rabbit Hole which was wonderful. Hotel was very accommodating by making us a “to go” Breakfast. Area was very quiet in spite of the fact that there was a bar with music and a fire station next door. Coffee and tea available 24/7. Just a LOVELY stay"
