"We were offered an upgrade to stay on the second floor which is the third floor if you are an American. Beware if you have large suitcases, as there are no elevators. We had to practically empty our suitcase to get the contents up the stairs. There is a washing machine/dryer combo in the community kitchen, but it takes hours to wash and dry your clothes. "The Villas at Victor Hugo was a lovely place. Very convenient for our days in Avignon. The Expedia listing for the apartments is incorrect in that it lists washer and dryer for the apartments - but it seems that there is only one or two apartments that have that amenity. This was a big negative but not a reflection of the host as they have repeatedly tried to get Expedia to correct the error."

"Prime location, right in the center of Aix, around the corner from Place de la Mairie. You can’t beat the location. The owner and management company were very responsive. Since there is no AC fans are provided, which is very helpful. Please note the apartment is located on one of the busiest streets in Aix for nighttime eating and partying. If you want to sleep with the windows open it’s quite loud until about 4am, especially on weekends. The shower is very small and it’s a bit tricky to get in...
