"As a couple arriving without a car, it was nice that the train station was quite close, and it was possible to walk to the beaches d port in Southsea and Portsmouth. It's a budget hotel, so naturally it's quite basic. However, as we as tourists intended to be outside the whole day and only use the room for sleep and luggage storage, it fitted our purpose. "The Queens is a Portsmouth institution in and of itself, but after staying here, my husband (who grew up in Portsmouth) and I have found that it's also amazing! The bar, the restaurant and the hotel itself is both super cozy and top tier"

"Basically I booked this for its location and price. Was very grateful to find we had been upgraded to a family room in the basement. Sadly though other residents weren’t as thoughtful and kept us awake till nearly 3 in the morning, slamming doors and talking loudly outside our window and in hallway. Also room was stiflingly hot. There was a fan but it didn’t reduce heat. Can’t fault how polite and helpful staff were with booking."

"Block I was in had safe gated parking for £15 a night. My room was up several floors of stairs, so very glad I only had light luggage. But the room was stylish, comfortable and clean. Great breakfast in the resturant in another block over the road. Would stay again if in Southsea."
