The Spanish Moss Cottage is newly renovated, stylishly appointed, and extremely comfortable- a little gem of a house with a huge amount of beautifully landscaped outdoor space. We are Premier Hosts with years of VRBO experience who have just added this second property onto the platform. Having stayed in many VRBO's for work, we've figured out what guests really value, and our goal is to give you a concierge style-stay, with premium amenities and conveniences.
Relax on the screened-in back porch and enjoy the beauty of the Lowcountry in our spacious fenced-in yard that backs directly onto the Spanish Moss Trail, a rails-to-trail greenway that is one the recreational centerpieces for Beaufort County. With a current 20-mile round trip experience for residents and visitors, the Trail offers a 12-foot-wide paved path dedicated to pedestrians and bicyclists. Walk through our back gate and you’re on the trail-we supply 2 bicycles, bike locks and helmets.
The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and relaxed, and the location can't be beat-downtown Port Royal is less than a mile away and offers variety of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, the Sands Beach, and the Cypress Wetlands Boardwalk trail. Paris Island is literally 2 minutes away if you are in town for a military graduation. The historic and remarkable town of Beaufort is a 4 mile drive down Ribaut Road.
We've made the most of the interior layout to create a well-appointed little getaway with your comfort and convenience in mind. The completely remodeled kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to prepare a Lowcountry feast-or use the gas grill in the backyard to grill up some fresh seafood-we’ve got some great recommendations and insider tips for shopping in our house guide.
You’ll find the bedrooms clean and comfortable, with first rate 100 % cotton linens. The Wireless internet is very fast, and you can watch all your subscriptions on our 42 inch Samsung Smart T.V.
We have a fully stocked Laundry room, and provide have everything you might need for the beach: In addition to a South Carolina State Park pass that gets you free admission onto the wonderful Hunting Island, we provide beach towels, beach toys, folding chairs and a beach umbrella. Hunting Island is a 25-minute drive and a trip back in time through beautiful St Helena Island. Savannah is an hour south, and Charleston in 1.5 hours north, so your in the perfect place to enjoy all that the Lowcountry has to offer!

Very clean and pleasant. We especially enjoyed the screened in back porch. We spent hours back there enjoying the breeze and the birdsong. The location was convenient and perfect for the purpose of our visit to attend Marine Corps Graduation Ceremony. I highly recommend this cottage.

The stay was fantastic. All the details that most others stays overlooked were taken care of. Snacks, drinks, and a pantry full of items that may be needed. We brought our own bikes and were thrilled the trail was right out the back gate. We rode the full trail then into Port Royal another day. Weather was terrific. But would stay again with out a doubt!

I have stayed in many rentals. Spanish Moss Cottage was the best equipped ever! Beautifully decorated. Well-appointed in every way. Spent most of my time on the back porch, back yard and the Spanish Moss Trail, just on the other side of the back gate! Bedding was great and I have never seen another rental as clean. Pet friendly and comfortable in every way. Friendly, quiet neighborhood and excellent communication with Susanna. Oh, and the shower, can't forget to mention the amazing shower!

12 out of 10, highly recommend booking this home. The location is close to everything yet it is in a quiet neighborhood. Backyard opens to the trails. The hosts went above and beyond with all the little extras in the house. They have thought of everything. I recommend taking advantage of their Hunting State Park pass. The beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. The screened in back porch and the fenced in backyard were perfect for our dog. Will gladly stay here again.

They really have thought of everything! Wow, what a house! This place has it all. A great kitchen with everything! A great bathroom with lots of extras. The beds are super comfy. Take advantage of the free park pass to Hunting Beach park. It’s a great beach day. The Trail out the back gate was really nice too. Just an all around great house in a great little town. The owners were really friendly and gave great advice. You can’t go wrong with this one!

Cute Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at The Spanish Moss Cottage. It was clean, nicely redecorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for easy meal making. The rental owners left goodies upon our arrival (snacks and drinks) which was sweet and made us feel welcome. The bathroom has a nice big walk in shower. The bed in the primary bedroom was comfortable. It rained A LOT while we were there so we didn't get to enjoy the fenced backyard but it is likely great especially for those traveling with a dog or two.The screened porch was a nice place to enjoy breakfast each morning. We go to Port Royal annually around this time of year to enjoy photography at Cypress Wetlands and would surely rent this unit again if it is available. For those who have a dog...be mindful that there is a neighbor at the end of the street in a blue little cottage who can be little nasty about your dog, even if leashed and even if you clean up after your dog properly, like we do...Just avoid that house when out walking your dog.

Great place

Such a great place to stay. I was very impressed with the clarity of the check in process. Directions and information sheet was so very thorough with great recommendations of things to do in the area. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.

Port Royal Gem

We had a great stay in this lovely property. It was modern and clean, with very comfortable furnishings. We enjoyed the huge backyard and screened in porch, bikes, and direct access to the trail. It was a very quiet neighbourhood. We enjoyed great communication with the host who provided excellent suggestions for local restaurants, and other interesting things to do in the area. The park pass was great and we took advantage of that, and had a great day exploring. The house was well stocked with snacks, drinks and sundries. We really appreciated the extra effort that has been put into this cottage. Would definitely recommend this listing.

Multiple Advantages at Property

Awesome functional house (loved the setup) lovely decor and exceptional back yard. I traveled solo with my two Cavaliers. A pretty and safe neighborhood was a requirement for me. Doggies loved backyard as I did! We relaxed there every night and grilled out often. The low light lamps in living room provided a smoothing effect for night time calming. Quick response and communication from Susanna.She allowed me to stay an additional night. The material information provided was so helpful from best driving routes to the best dining places. Hunting Island passes were so appreciate. We only made one trip there but I wanted to make more. We just ran out of time. The Hunting Island was so beautiful! It was obvious that Susanna cared about you having a great and safe vacation. I appreciated the posted information about local plants that were poisonous to my beloved dogs. Extras and more were provided! Beach equipment, lawn chairs, spices, shampoo, olive oil, spices, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent! Honestly there were so many extras I cannot list them all. That saved me so much money. Written instructions and labels for all drawers were so helpful. Cooking pots and pans were more than adequate. We visited downtown Beaufort twice, (waterfront walk was beautiful and so dog friendly) Spanish Moss trail 3 times from different access. points. I hope I can visit Beaufort again next year.I am a 69 year old widow and when I find a great place I remember it.

Great Little Cottage

The cottage was nice and clean which is a major factor for us. It was so nice having the Spanish Moss Trail right out the back gate. Although there was bikes we chose to walk every morning. Located close to lots of places and things to do.

Location was perfect

My spouse’s brother lived a street over which made it very easy to visit and spend time with his family. The restaurants we like and places to see were easily accessible from this location. We believe this residence deserves a perfect rating.

Would definitely recommend

We were in town for our sons graduation from boot camp and the location was great only a 3 to 5 minute drive to base. The hosts were very helpful and answered any questions we had about the property. The house itself was beautiful and very well maintained. They stocked it with drinks and a basket of snacks just in case. I would absolutely stay there again in the future and would recommend it for everyone(as long as we dont need it first)

Fantastic location and will stay here next time we come!

From the moment we booked until the moment we checked out, the experience was amazing! We were looking for something to fit our little family and 2 small dogs and this was it! The perfect spot! The backyard was beautiful and soooo peaceful. The pups loved it and explored a lot. The screened in porch was the perfect location for our family dinners after a day of spending time on the beach, or on.base with the family. The owner even left extra chairs after asking if it was ok if we hosted the off base dinners. She is absolutely the best and sweetest!
