White Squirrel Lodge - Family friendly, pond & stream, breezy porches & wildlife

Located in Hidden Valley off of Williamson Creek Rd in Pisgah Forest / Brevard, NC just 8 minutes from downtown Brevard, close to the Hospital and about the same distance to Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Park. The Lodge is situated on a wooded corner lot with a pond on one side and a small stream on another. The lot backs up to a game trail and salt block where we regularly see deer, squirrels (white & grey), chipmunks, rabbits, fox and about every bird in the region.


New VRBO listing mid June, '20, privately managed for 8 years. Many of our guests look forward to returning annually and have visited here for years.

Although there’s lots to see and do in the area, some of our guests prefer to sit on the porch in the Sky Chair, sip their favorite beverage read a book and watch the wildlife. It’s truly a very unique experience. Please read our reviews!

THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL RENTAL, there are very few like it! Very clean with lots of special touches. Our outside fire pit is a great place to hear the running stream below. Summer or Winter it’s a quiet restful spot in the Forest. Do Not miss booking this adorable cabin as it is often booked a year in advance. The house is sunny, bright, breezy and well appointed with upscale furnishings, antiques and local art. While we've not had any security issues we do have outside driveway security cameras that are motion activated. These were installed because of the national increase in Porch Pirates stealing deliveries. They are not viewed unless there’s an issue.

Come for a visit, stay awhile, we promise you won’t be disappointed!

This cabin was awesome! So cute, creatively decorated, stocked with all the basic comforts of home (more than any other place we've stayed). Wildlife from every window (deer, all kinds of birds, white & brown squirrels), huge front porch, private - in a neighborhood but other than hearing the cars on the gravel road, you'd never know you had neighbors. Just short of 1 hour to Asheville, but 'town' is only 10ish min away. ****there is wi-fi in the house, but no cell otherwise (until back in town). Take a pic of your entry code before you get there!!!!!Absolutely wonderful place to stay!

Wonderful spot! You can tell the owners really care about this place and I suspect they spend time here. Great location with tons of stuff to do nearby. Well appointed with household stuff that you might need. My family really enjoyed our time here and would come back.

Cozy, Close and Clean

House was in a great location to all of the things we wanted to do on our trip - horseback riding, hiking, tubing and fishing. Also close to downtown. The home was clean, cozy and has a well stocked kitchen. The porch was a great place to hang out. We saw lots of deer and white squirrels. Would definitely recommend! :)

Wonderful Stay

The property was clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable. Seeing the deer, squirrels and birds were quite a treat. Would definitely recommend this location and hope to return again in the future.

1st time in NC!

This place blew us away! Honestly it was better than the photos! As soon as we got there we were greeted with multiple white squirrels outside! We also saw chipmunks, grey squirrels and deer (with 2 babies)!!! It was so nice and quite and close to so many amazing trails and right near downtown Brevard. This was really even better than expected!!! Thank you so much for such an UNBELIEVABLE first experience in NC. We already look forward to our next visit!

Family Mountain Weekend

Loved the wildlife!

We enjoyed our stay at White Squirrel Lodge. House was clean and stocked with everything you need. Spent most of our time out on the deck watching the birds, white & gray squirrels and the deer. Spent some time in Brevard checking out the shops and walking around it's a cute little town. Would definitely would come back to stay again.

Perfect home away from home

Our family of six was in town so that some of our kids could see mountains for the first time. The house was welcoming and fully stocked and we loved watching the squirrels and deer from the porch. We spent our days hiking and swimming in the forest and, the area had all we needed to make our stay absolutely delightful. Would love to stay Again, and thankfully, the weather was perfect! I think the best part was the kitchen – if you love to cook this is the best kitchen away from home I've experienced so far!

The White Squirrel Lodge is a great mountain stay near Brevard

We were very happy with our stay at the White Squirrel Lodge. From the comfy sofas, the well-stocked kitchen, and the big porch to watching the deer and squirrels, all of our needs were met and exceeded. We were close to our favorite hikes and Brevard was just a short drive away. We definitely plan to return in the future!

Amazing property

If you enjoy watching wildlife, love peaceful porch sitting and a comfy, relaxing, clean, and welcoming home, this property is for you. Everything about this cabin is amazing. The furniture in the living room is so comfortable and the entire home is well stocked with everything that you will need. The porch is so nice to sit on. We saw raccoon, plenty of white squirrels, so many deer and a black bear. All front the comfort of the porch. We will definitely be back.

Amazing cabin in the woods

This house in the woods was so amazing. We sat out on the wonderful covered porch almost the entire day when we weren’t at the music festival. The white squirrels were so much fun to watch,as were the deer. I have never been in a rental house that included so much—-kitchen spices, Saran Wrap, etc.. And the laundry had soap and spot spray and anything you could think of. The beds and furniture were very comfortable, and the decor was interesting and fun! My husband and I are in our upper 80’s and worried about the spiral staircase, but we held on and had no problem. It was extremely sturdy. We didn’t use the fire pit cause we worried about the dry weather, but I’m sure it would be fun. This house wasn’t just a house, it was an experience.

Perfect place for relaxing

Great house and great location. You'll be close to hiking and cycling. Owners were helpful and even provided cracked corn to feed the deer and birdseed for the birds. We enjoyed spending the afternoons watching the wildlife. House was cozy, clean and had everything we needed.

Bike trail vacation

We loved the place and the location was perfect for being close to the bike trails. Fire pit and grill were used several times and we enjoyed seeing the deer and white squirrel s play in the mornings. Pleanty of room and very well thought out lighting and details around the house. Top notch accomodatiins in a great woodsy setting!

Perfect home tucked away in a perfect spot!!

We enjoyed a long weekend at White Squirrel Lodge! This home was perfect for our stay. We were so close to downtown Brevard and Sliding rock! The wildlife is right out the front door and the white squirrels literally came right up on the porch while we were outside in rocking chairs! A quirky little raccoon visited us every night of our stay. We enjoyed cooking in the WELL STOCKED kitchen. The hosts were wonderful and quick to respond to our questions and needs. I highly recommend this spot. The multiple levels were accessible inside via spiral staircase (which the kiddos loved, I liked it too) as well as outside. It’s a quiet spot that makes you feel one with nature and off the beaten path, however, very close to anything you may need and some really cool attractions. The hosts also provide beach towels for swimming in the streams and creeks that are nearby! They thought of everything. I would love to return here with my family on our next mountain vacation!!
