"Brilliant pub and place to stay! Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Food was amazing, I had the chicken burger and a very good fry up in the morning. I would highly recommend. "

What put a damper on our stay was, that we were rather unfortunate to be placed in room just above the kitchens, and with our window just next to the exhaust of the kitchen ventilation. These conditions meant that the room was quite warm, but we couldn't really air it out while the ventilation was on, partly due to the noise, but in a much higher degree due to the air being heavy with...

"A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."
