If you want a hot, humid place with limited hot water and infested with bed bugs, this is it. (Pictures attached) From day 1 the room was unbearable, and when we contacted the owner about cooling it, he didn’t reply until our 3rd night. On day 2 the water heater broke, leaving us with only cold showers. By day 3 I noticed bites on my arm, but on day 4 my friends woke up with BED BUGS CRAWLING ON THEM—not just one or two, but around ten. That’s when I realized I had more bites too, which is serious since I’m allergic. One friend even found a dead bug on his back. We contacted the owner with photos, but he ignored us until the 4th day, when he finally wrote: “Sorry I did not get your messages before. I don’t understand, no bed bug since long time… I can make an effort but not a full refund sorry.” I found bugs literally crawling on us, and that was his response?! Vrbo’s support team was the only helpful part of this experience. We left on the 4th day, moved to a new place, and had to wash everything and deep clean our luggage. I do not recommend this property. If you already booked it, cancel and find somewhere better.

Avoid at all costs

I stayed in the place first during Monday, June 23rd till Friday, June 27th. It was a basement apartment, very hot and the air did not circulate at all. I asked my host, Alexandre, for a fan multiple times. First I asked on Monday. Did not hear from him till Wednesday. He said no. No fan. It was extremely hot and difficult to breathe. I have respiratory problems, and the stagnant air aggravated it. On the last day of my stay there, I discovered bug bites on my feet and arms and strange patterns of bites on my husband’s legs . These patterns are consistent with bed bugs. I had a second booking coming up in the same place, starting Monday, June 30th till Friday, July 4th. I had no other choice , but to get another accommodation. Alexandre finally agrees to provide 1 fan, but with extreme heat and bed bugs infestation the apartment is not suitable for a human being to stay there. I requested Alexandre for a full refund, which he refused.I hope he fumigates the place and makes necessary improvements if he wants to receive future guests.the apartment have other issues, such as the bathroom gets flooded every time you shower, because the shower stall door does not close. The area is not the best. It is right across the street from Gare de L'est, so you can make your own decisions regarding how safe it is.It is about 10 minute walk to Canal Saint Martin, and that is the best thing about this place.In other words, do not ruin your stay in Paris and look elsewhere.

The worst place in Paris

I attached the photos.I am not even mentioning the fact that the shower door does not close and floods the whole bathroom every time you shower, the terrible area you are in ( right by Gare de L’Est), just by the free clinic and multiple migrant and vagrant encampments.I had a second booking coming up in the same place, starting Monday, June 30th till Friday, July 4th. I had no other choice , but to get another accommodation. Alexandre finally agrees to provide 1 fan, but with extreme heat and bed bugs infestation the apartment is not suitable for a human being to stay there. I requested Alexandre to give me a full refund, which he vehemently refused. VRBO was not much help either. They offered me their service fee of 58 euros back and some KeyCash. I obviously declined as this is not acceptable. I am out of hundreds of euros and I do not want this horrific experience to ruin anyone else’s vacation.

Clean and Convenient

This is a great location with wonderful neighborhood shops and cafes and is also across the street from a metro station. The apartment is clean and has basic amenities like a cooking plate, washing machine, and basic set of dishes and cookware. Some of the information delivered via VRBO contradicts information on the paper sheets of property info on site, but property manager is reasonable and communicative. Shower door leaks badly but towel warmer in bathroom helps dry out floor mat.
