"This was a very old historical building in as good of a shape as it could be. Some uneven floors and a lot of steps to get to your room. It was small and quiet charming. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A bus stop was right out the side. Very pleasant. The bed was nice, no air conditioning, but it was fairly cool when we went in August, 2026. They had a fan. We are from Florida so the low 70's was a joy for us for August."

"Excellent "

"Property in good location , quiet and friendly environment. It may look as bit dated but very comfortable including accessible for kitchen , garden and TV programs. It’s worth for the money for sure Laura is very helpful and spot on with the communication. We were stayed for s week and wished we can come back again when needed ."

"Well this booking was made on the whole purpose of having a relaxing weekend after running 350km for charity over the past few months. So we booked here for the hot tub and the relevant ease of running a Park Run on the Saturday. After running this Park Run we returned back to the accommodation for our day of in and out of the hot tub. Although this turned out to be turned off so we had an ice bath, not advertised on the website. We then were told that we would get a nights refund for this...

"It was a very pleasant place to stay highly recommended."

"Friendly welcome, super breakfast and excellent location"

"Ample parking. Amazing breakfast. Great views"

"Good size bedroom, excellent breakfast, great staff"

"Staying here was amazing. The room was just what I needed for my one night stay in Durham. The bus stop wasn’t far away and was very easy to get into the city center. I arrived a little bit early and they didn’t even flinch to get me into my room. Highly recommend!"

"Alt godt "

"Quirky rooms but very unclean, tv was like watching a tv from 2010 terrible quality."

"Better than expected. Don’t write off these hotels. Way nicer than many upmarket properties out there."

"Great breakfast!"

"Room was comfortable (e.g. bed, warm) had all one required and a reasonable shower. Staff very helpful before and during stay. Parking very handy considering how close one is to the centre of Durham. Excellent choices of breakfasts. Well worth the cost. It was also quiet, considering how near the centre it is and in spite of the storm."

"Unfortunately my wife had fairly bad illness during our stay, through no fault of the hotel, but I would like to praise the staff, especially the night manager for the assistance to transfer my wife to hospital."
