Thank you for the 5 star review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Could it be possible your dishwasher missed the larger dish rack in the lower cabinet? The hot tub was cleaned prior to your arrival and is inspected after each guest. The hot tub is also cleaned and water replaced monthly to insure a pleasurable experience. The normal water level is above the jets. If guests have questions or concerns, please let us know right away so it can be promptly addressed. We try our very best to make sure every guest’s experience is flawless. It is possible to get a glimpse of the neighbor’s house with the lack of foliage on the trees in winter. The properties are on 2 acre lots so there is quite a bit of distance between them. The Cottage is VERY private without feeling completely isolated, which is appreciated by most guests who are more likely to see wildlife than people during their stay. I am so happy you enjoyed your stay. The Cottage is away from road traffic and city lights so guests can relax in peace & quiet. Did you know? Solar activity is expected to strengthen in 2024, which could activate even more frequent displays of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Maybe it is the best kept secret when visiting the North shore of Lake Superior? The surrounding area and Thunder Bay hosts many adventures, landmarks, parks, amazing nature, art and cultural events. Thank you for the wonderful review, being my guest and for mentioning the principal road (HWY 61). Most North shore accommodations in Minnesota are just off HWY 61 with constant noise & exhaust from traffic -- but The Cottage is 6 miles OFF HWY 61. Guests are sure to enjoy this beautiful 6 mile mountainous drive with fantastic views of Lake Superior. Being 6 miles off HWY 61 provides peace & quiet in a serene setting with NO traffic. The road is well-maintained by the municipality and quickly plowed after snow events. Easy, straightforward directions and close (but not too close) to Thunder Bay. The Cottage is an exceptional place to visit year-round for everyone in need of absorbing nature's amazing canvas all within the comforts of home. You are welcome back any time!

There are wonderful grocery stores in Grand Marais (Minnesota side one hour away) & in Thunder Bay (Canadian side 1/2 hour away). Also do not miss the fabulous bakery close by that sells breads, pastries, sandwiches and fresh pastas & pizza, a convenience/liquor store and the most wonderful cheese farm just 15 minutes from The Cottage. You are correct about the view. It’s a big WOW! 🤩

Pack a lunch and hike to Picnic Point -- the perfect place for well, a picnic! Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Superior. Guests, do not miss the HARVEST MOON full on September 29, 2023 & HUNTER'S MOON full on October 28, 2023. They are absolutely spectacular here especially amongst fall's brilliant colors! We set out pamphlets about local attractions and events in the laundry room during week long stays since the facilities are available to guests. Shorter stays this information is located in the kitchen. All guests receive entry instructions and information, including links, about area attractions one week prior to arrival. It is also available earlier by request. This way guests have an opportunity to plan what they want to see & do when visiting this absolutely amazing area. The Internet has been tested and is working flawlessly. If guests have any issues, however, it is important to get in contact so they can be promptly addressed. Swimming is definitely optional but guests ought not be surprised to see locals out for their morning swim July through September! The rocky shoreline has no weeds and the water is crystal clear & cool. Of course there is always the hot tub. 😉 Thank you for being wonderful guests. It was certainly a pleasure hosting you!🙂

Thank you for the 5-star review -- I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The Cottage is perfect for couples wanting time away amongst nature's amazing canvas. The views are really second to none -- and the hiking trails behind The Cottage offer panoramic views of Lake Superior with its islands & inlets not seen on the US side. Guests are welcome having a few visitors over for a BBQ or to enjoy the day by the lake. Overnight guests are an additional, nominal fee. The Cottage has a rocky beach with clear, crisp water. Locals frequently swim along the shoreline -- and the last time I was there people were water skiing! There are many historic and interesting adventures close by. A few guest favorites include: Amethyst Mine Panorama, Old Fort Williams, Kekabeka Falls, Quimet Canyon, Sleeping Giant Provincial Park -- and fishing with a guide on Lake Superior. I am sorry you had difficulty with the televisions. I arrived at The Cottage directly after your stay and the new, large Samsung television in the living area worked perfectly. The televisions in the bedrooms were also functioning properly but the satellite box needs to be switched on as explained in the television instructions. If I were aware of a problem, it could have been promptly addressed. I am so sorry you missed using the new hot tub on the front deck overlooking Lake Superior. It is always a highlight with guests. It is necessary the hot tub cover be strapped down since winds coming directly off Lake Superior can be very powerful and lift the cover. There are 2 ratchet straps insuring the cover stays on. If you did not know how to unlock the ratchet, assistance would have been promptly provided. I have since added an instructional video to the information provided to guests. There is a lot of information and a few rules sent to guests about The Cottage and area. I feel it is important guests know how to use things and are comfortable in their "home away from home".
