There is a festival that takes place in spring in this town called Trail Days where various outdoor activities take place. The Appalachian mountains is a place where thousands of hiking trails are located, and hiking is a common activity done by residents with in these mountains, so having an entire town dedicated to the activity is almost to be expected. #appalachianechoes

Within the image there are multiple peace signs further emphasizing the tropes associated with hippie culture.
