"As it turned out we were the only guests in the hotel during our stay so there was only the chef preparing our meals (included) and no other service was available. There was an intial hiccup with our TV and lack of hot water so we had to change rooms but playing a round on the Kinloch Golf course is well worth the trouble."

"Nina and Peter's little Chalet was delightful. Bella and Rufus were the perfect cuddle buddies in the morning while Nina prepared breakfast. Would highly recommend a stay here. Easy access to Taupo area but out of the way and quiet!"

Rebecca and Jason are attentive, anticipating their clients needs, and are at the ready to make great dining and sightseeing recommendations. The private cedar hot tubs room side are to die for. "The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune."

The kitchen dining space held us all at a friendly squeeze and we were able to get 20 mouths well fed with the two cookers and fridges there. Great base to get out up the mountain and we also bashed out down the Fishers track which is 500m from the door."
