The house was fine, but in our opinion, significantly overpriced. We thought we were paying for luxury and ease of location but found that we were further away from Wisp than we thought, closer to neighbors than we anticipated and the house was less luxurious than we wanted. There was a significant amount of mouse droppings in the laundry room, inconsistent heating (when the thermostat on the main floor was at 70, a room thermometer we bought read 86 degrees in thr upstairs bedrooms which was far too hot for our children) and the oven took more than 30 minutes to get above 175. There was also not enough cups and silverware for the amount of people the house can hold nor were the pots and pans clean when we arrived. Finally (and in my opinion, most irritating) was that there was no on-site garbage container so if we had a dirty diaper or dog waste, we had to bring it out of the community and to the dumpster. We have stayed in many properties in McHenry and even when communities do not permit garbage collection on site, usually houses provide a bear-safe outdoor holding area so that smelly trash can wait until the daylight/morning to go to the dumpster!All that being said, beds were comfortable, couch was comfortable and the house was mostly clean. I just wish we had spent 3K for the house rather than 5k like our friends did for effectively the same house rental.
