The space
Welcome to Smugglers Cottage, our unique Grade II listed cottage dating back to 1690, nestled in the heart of Margate Old Town. Refurbished with our guests in mind, this quirky and characterful property offers a perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury.

Smugglers Cottage boasts a prime central location, allowing you to explore the vibrant Old Town with ease. A variety of excellent restaurants and bars, ranging from cosy pubs to fine dining establishments, are just moments away. The beautiful Margate beach with its epic sunsets is also within close reach, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or enjoying a leisurely walk along the shore. Dreamland Margate is just a 10 minute stroll away.

The property includes a living room and open plan kitchen and dining area, leading out onto a private garden, as well as two double bedrooms, one full bathroom and one toilet, and a utility room.

Blending timeless appeal with contemporary comfort and a prime location, Smugglers Cottage provides an ideal retreat for those seeking both adventure and convenience. We look forward to welcoming you and ensuring you have a memorable stay in Margate Old Town!


Cottage Layout:
Enter through the street door and into the cosy living room, containing a 2 seater sofa and 2 arm chairs, rug, lamp, coffee table, bookshelf and smart TV, featuring popular apps such as Netflix.
Connected is the open plan kitchen with a modern electrical oven, stove and stylish Smeg fridge-freezer. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials you need such as a microwave, toaster, coffee machine and kettle. The back of the kitchen features a dining table with 5 chairs and a glass extension with floor to ceiling windows. There is also a small toilet by the back door.
Through the glass door in the kitchen, you'll discover the secluded private garden with small table and chairs- the perfect place to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Up a set of stairs, you’ll find a landing with a bookshelf and storage space underneath. The master bedroom is to the left, featuring a lavish king sized bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers with a mirror, and hanger space on the wall. On the right is the second bedroom, with comfy double bed, bedside tables and a large storage unit for you to use.
Up another set of stairs you will reach the top floor- On the left is the large bathroom with quirky exposed brick and cottage roof features, containing a bathtub and separate overhead shower unit, and a toilet.
Across the landing is a small utility room with a washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board.
You will have access to the entire property. I won’t be around but Pass The Keys will be managing the property on my behalf and will be available to contact 24/7 for any assistance you may need.
We provide complimentary tea, coffee, and essential toiletries for the initial days of your stay. Should you require more, it is only a 2 minute walk to the nearest supermarket.
The property does not provide a car parking space, however free local parking can be found on local streets within 10 minutes walk to the property, or paid parking can be found nearby.

Guest access
Guests have access to the whole property. The house is accessed through its own private door on Lombard Street.
Other things to note

●Check-in time is after 4pm and check-out time is before 10am. A £65 charge will be requested if guests check themselves in early without permission or if guests do not check out on time as this will cause disruption to my cleaner’s schedule.
●Parties and smoking will not be tolerated- an extra fee of £250 will apply should any house rules be broken.
●Pets are permitted at the property for an additional fee of £55 for cleaning and a maximum of 1 big or 2 small pets
●DURING YOUR STAY- My property management team will be available 24/7 via Airbnb, email, or phone to provide any assistance my guests may need.

IMPORTANT: On behalf of our host at Pass the Keys, we require guest verification facilitated by Truvi (Previously called Superhog). Upon confirming your booking, Truvi will contact the lead booker via a secure link, providing detailed instructions for the verification process.

The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.

Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
