"Getting to the island involved catching the dedicated boat anchored offshore. Prepare to get wet! The journey was over an hour but with great views of Koh Ta Kiev island and others.
We were welcomed by volunteers and Giovanni gave us a brief on arrival. We were shown to our accommodation which was just off the beach.
The hut was on stilts and featured fairly comfortable beds with much needed mosquito nets, a balcony facing the sea, and complementary water.
The activities on offer were varied...
"À notre arrivée, nous voulions fuir! Tout d'abord, aucune option de "déjeuners sur demande" sauf télécharger une application pour commander. Le personnel est incapable de nous indiquer des restaurants à proximité. Communication très difficile même avec Google traduction. Des insectes et des lézards habitaient dans la chambre. Nous avons eu des serviettes trop usées pour essuyer. Terrasse mal entretenue et lait périmé dans le réfrigérateur du marché. Le seul bon point, la piscine"
"It is impossible to recommend this hotel and I will not be staying here on future trips.
My first hint was when the hotel was not listed on rhe grab transport app, so I found myself standing on the side of the road at the bus stop at 11.30pm trying to work out how to find the place ... turns out their listing on wotif is different to the name of the actual hotel.
I eventually arrived and was dropped off in a dingy back alley, picked my way past the street dogs, and managed to check in. Shown...
"Hvis man leder efter det uspolerede backpacker sted er dette sted det! Oplev ølivet som for 20-25 år siden i Thailand. Ingen Ungabunga. Hængekøje, palmer og easy living. Er du til fest og farver til den lyse morgen, så tag et andet sted hen. Her er det familieejede sted med små hytter ren originalitet. Må det forblive sådan, så man også fremadrettet kan finde tilbage til rødderne!"
