There is a large decked balcony overhanging the River Eden where you may spot a variety of birds and wildlife, including herons, kingfishers and red squirrels. The owners keep the bird feeders well stocked to attract many more garden birds, making for a truly relaxing holiday home. Kirkby Stephen is a pretty market town and regularly wins ’best large village’ awards in local and national ’best kept’ competitions. It is close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The Howgill Fells and the North Pennines are even closer. Kirkby Stephen’s station is on the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line.
