Ryokaner i Izu Ōshima

"We were shocked coming to this place and seeing the standard and our room. We had booked this stay as an original Ryokan experience while in Japan and had decided to pay extra to get a good experience with hot spring and traditional Japanese room. We were very disappointed. The place seems very old and not well kept. Our room was moldy, dark and not pleasant at all. We had booked a room with a small outside area but it had no view at all and was a small grass area facing a wooden fence. All...

"My family of 3 stayed two nights at Hinodeya and it was a wonderful experience all around! This was our first visit to the Izu-Penninsula and we had such a great time. The owner and staff were so kind and accommodating, truly good spirits in this generational owned ryokan. The baths were very relaxing, the entire place was very clean and good spirits all around. If you’re looking for a family run experience vs. a corporate hotel, I highly suggest staying. Also, their massage chair is...

"A vibe of a hotel that once was great and is falling into disrepair. Before booking I was debating between this and another hotel which was a few thousand yen more expensive. I rather wish I had booked the other one. It’s not that this place is bad….but it’s not really worth the price either. To start with, we booked a non smoking room. But when I checked the property details on this website, it said I booked a smoking room. The staff assured me they would change it when I called them. But...

"素晴らしいお部屋や季節に合わせてのお食事を頂きありがとうございます。 お腹いっぱいで食べきれない事もあり申し訳無いと思います。 スッタフの皆さんも笑顔で対応され気持ち良かったです。 有難うございました♪ 次回もまたご利用したいと思いますのでその時は是非宜しくお願いします。"

"Better service, good location"

"Well kept Japanese ryokan near the ocean. Delicious kaiseki dinner. Four private onsen on the upper floor. Also onsen in the room."

"Nothing short of an exceptional stay. From the staff, check in/out process, breakfast and dinner, hotel onsen - all of it was exceptional. There is a local train station within walking distance, and daily shuttle service into the quaint Ito town. Leaving Komeya rejuvenated and with a lot of gratitude to have experienced the Japanese culture. Thank you to Luna and everyone who did wonderful. A little English but alot of respect. Honto ni Arigato Gozaimasu."
