I didn’t expect much due to peers staying here and having poor experiences, but I was still unfortunately disappointed. The room felt like it was holding up with Elmer’s Glue and scotch tape. Two electrical outlets were actually only connected to the wall with scotch tape and had open wires shown. The sink faucet didn’t provide enough water to wash one’s hands, making hand sanitizer I keep in my care as my only option. As someone who’s allergic to dogs and smoke, having the room smell like both of those things made sleeping next to impossible, especially with the “cig” smoke of the screaming “regulars” outside my room being nonstop. The police were actually called two separate times by other guests, and my stay was less than 20 hrs long. The absolute worst part was the lack of safety features. The door came with two locks, but one of them didn’t work, and the curtain for the large window didn’t cover the entire window length. With my room being on the ground floor, the “regulars” having the ability to watch me within my paid “private” room is absolutely ridiculous. If you or anyone you know needs a place to stay in Cortland, the local police station holding cells are probably more welcoming. Luckily I didn’t see any bugs, even if it wouldn’t surprise me, but even they would rather stay somewhere else!
