I am overall impressed with the property being close to the city centre. The operators are very polite and try to be as accommodating as possible. My only suggestion is for the operator to not knock on the guest's door in the prior evening knowing the guest has to leave really early in the following morning.

James and Angela run a lovely property just across the river from the center of Inverness. James was an utter sweetheart who eagerly mapped out the sites for us and kept the place running. Breakfast was top notch every morning, before a quick walk through the Tesco car park and over the bridge to get to town. We didn't have a car, but other guests raved about how lucky it was to have a dedicated lot for cars (and given the crazy construction around, I wouldn't disagree). Other guests mentioned they were returning patrons and we'll definitely be back on our next trip to Scotland.

Super clean, comfy and quiet room within walking distance of Inverness city center. Breakfast is scheduled the night before and cooked fresh. The street is a narrow residential street, parking is tight and very limited. As a first time customer of a guest house, we are more accustomed to the ability to check in and out 24 hrs a day. The hosts are very helpful and friendly regarding recommendations for local dining and attractions.

Thank you for your kind review. Angela and I are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We've always managed to fit all our guests cars into our car park which we don't charge for, unlike many hotels. Guest houses tend to be small family businesses run by husband and wife teams who undertake all aspects of running the guest house themselves, so for obvious reasons guest houses don't offer check in and outs 24 hours a day.

Mardon Guest House is a lovely place to stay. James and Angela are very welcoming and run a proper Bed & Breakfast. The walk to city centre is just a few minutes. There’s a Tesco right near by for any grocery needs. I would definitely stay again.

Location, location,location, James and his wife run the best b&b we have stayed in , parking on site , short walk to city shops and tons of restaurants, spotless establishment great room amenities, fantastic breakfast. We only stayed three nights but could have stayed a week , We would have no hesitation in staying again 😃😃

Lovely storybook B&B. James and Angela were wonderful hosts. The B&B was within walking distance to the center but not as close as I'd hoped. Quite a walk with luggage. Very residential area- must walk into the city for food.

I'd just like to point out that it's only a 5 minute walk into town and an 11 minute walk to the bus or train stations. Also, taxis can be ordered.

This was such a delightful stay. I was welcomed upon arrival and given a brief history/ tour of the area via map. I was then asked about my breakfast preferences for my stay and shown to my room. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was made to order by the hosts and it was delightful. Talking to them during breakfast was a great opportunity to ask about things to do / recommendations. On days when you cannot make it to breakfast, they make a cute little setup where you have milk, cereal, and fruit for your journey. Highly recommend!

Sehr winzige Zimmer mit sehr altem Teppichboden und überall alte Plastikblumen. Insgesamt ist das Haus innen sehr veraltet und ohne Liebe eingerichtet und wegen der alten Teppichböden muffelt es auch leider. Frühstück vor halb acht ist nicht möglich, was bei Touristen, die oft früh zu Touren aufbrechen müssen, nicht sehr schön ist. Raucher müssen auf den Parkplatz hinterm Haus, ohne Sitzgelegenheit. Zumindest 2 Stühle und ein Aschenbecher wären nett gewesen. Der Gastgeber war aber freundlich

Thank you for reviewing our Guest House. We truly value our guests’ opinions and apologize that we didn’t meet your expectations.Your single en-suite room’s not large, but large enough for a standard bed, dresser, wardrobe, chair and bedside table. Tea, coffee, biscuits, TV, hairdryer, towels, dressing-gown, free Wi-Fi, free parking and full Scottish breakfast are included. I also showed you our guest lounge.The flowers are silk, not plastic. There’s a small vase in two bedrooms and our hall. We have nine live plants in our upstairs hall and dining room and fresh cut flowers at reception. In April I shampooed all carpets and rugs. They don’t smell. One rug’s a bit worn and due for replacement. We’ve not had such a heavy smoker before. No disrespect, but I suggest the smell you refer to was from yourself or your clothing. We serviced your room daily noticing a stale tobacco smell. You kept your window closed. Fortunately, your room was vacant for two nights after you left, we aired it, it smelled fresh again for our next guest. The vast majority of our guests don’t smoke but we allow smokers to use our small car park. However, it’s a car park and I believe it wouldn’t be safe with chairs for obvious reasons. An ashtray’s provided.We work long hours and cook breakfasts to order. Our breakfasts start at 7.30am. For very early starts, we provide, milk, cereal, juice, fruit and muesli-bars or a packed breakfast. We provided you with ham and cheese sandwiches, juice, fruit and a muesli-bar for your early tour. All other days you had a full breakfast.Our décor reflects our 1880’s period house’s character. You’d perhaps have been happier in a budget hotel. Online, the cheapest I found for one was 160 plus 13 for a buffet-breakfast. 173 per night. Over twice our single and more than our double tariffs.Angela and I do our best, working very hard to ensure our guests enjoy the best possible experience we can provide, evidenced by our reviews here and on other sites. We understand we cannot please everyone 100% of the time. We also know you weren’t happy there was no chair in the car park but lying and distorting the truth beyond recognition when you don’t get what you want is not big, cool or clever.We wish you all the best.RegardsJames

Great place to stay
Our stay at the Mardon Guest House was great! James and his wife were perfect hosts. Our room was spacious with all the expected amenities. We had coffee and tea available in the room which also had its own bathroom with shower. Breakfast was also provided each morning with both buffet and cooked to order choices. James was very knowledgeable about Inverness and eager to share what he knows. We arrived in Inverness by train and only had a 10 minute walk to the guest house. They do have parking in the rear of the house if you arrive by car.

I had a wonderful experience at Mardon House. James and Angela were exceptional hosts. Angela’s homemade breakfasts are really yummy, too. The location of the house was so convenient to the city center and the bus station. And the neighborhood was quite. I felt very safe. I will definitely be staying here the next time I am in Inverness and will be recommending my friends do the same.

James and Angela were excellent hosts during my stay in Inverness. The guest house is centrally located near many restaurants, bars, and the bus station that serves as a pickup spot for many of the tours. They gave a lot of recommendations of things to do and places to visit. The neighborhood was very safe. There is an amazing walking path along the River Ness nearby that is beautiful to walk during the evenings.

We had a spacious room and outstanding service. The owners went out of their way to accommodate our post-Loch Ness-marathon departure and shared lots of good tips with us for exploring the Highlands.

It is in a good location, within walking distance of the train station, close to the Ness River which is very nice to walk along and it has parking for when you want to drive to see the sights outside of Inverness. The owners are also very nice. The room was very comfortable & the breakfasts were very good

Sehr familiär und freundlich. Sauber und sehr gutes Frühstück. Kleiner Nachteil: das Gasthaus verlangt 100 pfund Kaution beim Einchecken. Das sollte bei der Buchung bekannt sein, denn ich hatte keine Kreditkarte und musste nun mein Bargeld abgeben. Beim Auszug bekommt man das zwar sofort zurück, aber braucht es ja nicht mehr. James war aber so kulant und hat es in Euro genommen.

I'd just like to point out that on the first page, where you clicked, ‘reserve’, under 'Important information, You need to know’ It clearly states in bold type, ‘Government-issued photo identification and a credit card, debit card or cash deposit are required at check-in for incidental charges’. Excellent location. Tricky parking - we were a little over parked. But a small inconvenience.
