Beautiful grounds and exclusive access to the hot springs and lovely, forested pools are wonderful assets for resort guests. However, our room experience was pretty poor: hair on the tub on arrival, empty shower gel container (hadn't been refilled), stained ceiling, and while we didn't pay extra for a "view", we were looking directly at a giant brick wall out our window.
There was no room service (or any explanation as to why) and we had to ask for more toilet paper at the front desk. We also ran out of towels, and when we asked for more, they were dumped in a bag outside our room door.
There was also a fire alarm that went off around 2:30 am during our stay (not the resort's fault) but no real explanation or direction from staff while it was happening, so hundreds of bleary-eyed guests wandering around waiting for instructions. No apologies or indeed any communication from the hotel staff.
I mentioned these things during my check-out (because I don't believe in just leaving a negative review without giving the property a chance to address things) and none of them were acknowledged, other than a curt, "I'll make a note about the shower gel."
For a supposed world-class destination resort that we paid resort prices for, this was very disappointing, to say the least, and made us resolve that it wasn't worth it to stay here again.
