"The room and the food were good. But the spa was just so so."

"Super accueillant et avenant."

"Top notch ryokan experience. The ladies were all so welcoming, helpful, kind, polite, and hospitable. It is an intimate 8 room ryokan, all facing the Karatsu Bay (Sea of Japan). The service is personal because of the small size. You can walk out onto a sandy beach. The two large suites also face Karatsu Castle. We arrived at 4pm and had not ordered dinner. We had even received a confirmation email saying that 3 days notice was required and dinner cannot be ordered upon arrival. Despite...

"This is something of an interesting and different setup in that this ryokan is contained within a larger hotel, the Art Hotel Kokura New Tagawa, which is where you check in. It's something of a best of both worlds, as you have the comfort and style of a traditional inn, supported by all the amenities and staff of a modern-style hotel. I opted to include the Kaiseki Tasting menu for dinner, and it's something that was absolutely amazing - definitely include this option! Breakfast was amazing as...

"One of the most charming and unique places I’ve ever stayed! This was such a hidden gem and the location couldn’t be beat. The views are incredible as it sits right on the Kusu River. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, the rooms were very spacious and clean. I would absolutely stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!"

"OK"

"It was such a relaxing stay! Onsen tub in the room was great! Staffs are super helpful and friendly. They are professional and polite."

"Spent a pleasant solo night in one of the hotels two special rooms that comes with a personal rotenburo (open-air bath). The room was very spacious with both a western section for sleeping and a tatami section for tea, watching TV or sleeping, if you prefer a futon to western beds. The open-air bath was the perfect size for 2 people, and was a sheer joy to soak in, which I did several times during my stay. It was very easy to use the bath thanks to the automatic panel attached to both the...
