"Incredible stay at Basalt Retreat! We enjoyed a cozy and luxurious evening the beautiful vineyard, made even more lovely by the complimentary bottle of prosecco and warm hot cocoa. The space itself is gorgeous and so well appointed—from the fascinating books to the gorgeously-scented bath products. Breakfast was delicious: an exquisite croissant loaf with butter and fig jam, plus yogurt and muesli, all made by local purveyors. If you have time, make sure to get lunch at the lovely restaurant....

"After watching the ABC segment filmed a long time ago, it is a credit to the owners to see how lovely and relaxing the accommodation is now.The Blacksmith’s Cottage is perfect for a couple. We bought cheese and wine with us as we’d read the reviews and knew a full kitchen wasn’t included. A microwave, crockery and tea/coffee making supplies were so it was perfect. The donkeys on the property were very friendly and we managed to see the Highland cattle later in the evening. Overall a great...

"Oliver was a wonderful host - fresh home-baked bread, butter and milk and a basket of goodies left for us, as well as a welcome sign! My 10 year old immediately felt welcome and excited to be there! The river view from the bedroom was magic in the morning. Bathroom was clean with a lovely shower. We came and went as we pleased and felt very safe. Lots of modern gadgets in the kitchen and a big TV. We enjoyed a few games of Snakes and Ladders before bed. Oliver offered plenty of local knowledge....

"Beautiful property. The hosts (Sam and Anne) were very attentive!"

"We had a wonderful stay! The place was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The host-Leasha was welcoming and made everything easy from check-in to check-out. Leasha made our stay truly unforgettable! She even took us for a ride at the back of her truck to enjoy the sunset—it was such a simple but magical moment, feeling the breeze and watching the sky change colors. Every little experience with her felt personal, thoughtful, and full of joy. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an...

"Great house, lots of space, plenty of bedrooms and beds, amazing to deal with and always available to answer any questions, easy drive to Bathurst for the race, quiet and comfortable. Having the animals on the farm is also fabulous. Would recommend to anyone thinking of staying."

"Wonderful hosts very friendly. The cottage was immaculate. Great place for kids as they loved interacting with the baby animals. So much to do from fishing and boating to exploring the farm and feeding the animals.Highly recommended family holiday!"

"Ken was a great host and communicated well throughout, always quick to respond. Check-in was easy and straightforward, and the cottage was cozy and had everything we needed for our one-night stay. It was so nice to be a 2 minute drive from the main street of Berry. The highlight was the children feeding the horses, which they absolutely loved. We’d love to come back one day. Thanks Ken"
