I’m struggling to submit a review because I only leave positive comments. Guests in my party considered it an ethical imperative to comment and created the following (which is greatly, GREATLY, greatly softened):This house was advertised as being in the Boston-Edison neighborhood of Detroit. According to our research (multiple sources), it is not. It is in the ‘Historic-Atkinson’ neighborhood, which is adjacent to, but not in Boston-Edison. The Atkinson neighborhood is noted to have many home break-ins, car thefts, and car break-ins. We were very concerned when driving to the house, as there were many boarded-up and abandoned houses nearby; cars were in disrepair with broken windows. It was not a place where we felt safe walking around or leaving our car unattended. We were so concerned that we did not stay at the house, instead finding it necessary to rent 3 hotel rooms for the duration of our stay. Stressful start to a vacation! We expressed our concerns to the host, who stated that the house is in Boston-Edison and refused to refund even the cleaning fee for the property, which again, we did not stay at (as a courtesy, we notified the host that we would not be staying at the house within hours of arrival). RENTERS BEWARE! We do not recommend this property.Positives: (1) Host responded to messages (though responses were not particularly helpful), (2) House appeared clean, albeit utilitarian and not especially cozy.
