Black Bear Lodge unit #303 — a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo on the 3rd floor, steps from the West Wall Lift at Mt. Crested Butte. Walk through the public access at Westwall Lodge to reach the lift in about 3 minutes — no shuttle required. Vaulted ceilings + floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Mt. Crested Butte ridgeline; the gas fireplace is lit on cold afternoons. Two queen bedrooms (sleeps 4), in-unit washer/dryer, well-stocked kitchen.



Your car parks inside — heated underground garage (1 assigned space), so it's dry and warm when you leave in the morning. Lobby ski locker stores gear between runs. Shared outdoor hot tub and grill deck on the building.



Ideal for: ski families and couples who want genuine walk-to-lift convenience, private warm parking, and a full 2BR condo (not a studio). Downtown historic Crested Butte is 3 miles away; free town shuttle picks up at the base area.

Building Notes:

Bikes and Skis are not allowed in the elevators or condos of this building. There is a secure garage and locker room in the lobby for your adventure gear!

Heads-up: the garage is sized for mountain-town SUVs — tall or extended-bed trucks may need to use surface parking. No A/C (Mt. Crested Butte stays cool at 9,375 ft). Sleeps 4 max (house rule).



Guest Access:

Entry: Self check-in. Lock box with keypad code. Your unique 4-digit code is sent 24 hours before arrival via the Guesty guidebook, together with the parking garage gate code, your assigned ski locker number, and the Wi-Fi password.



Your Space: Entire 2-bedroom condo. One assigned space in the heated underground garage. One dedicated ski locker in the lobby locker room.



Shared: Outdoor hot tub, grill deck, lobby lounge, elevator.



Check-In: 4:00 PM. Check-Out: 10:00 AM. Early arrival or late departure — message us in advance and we'll confirm if the calendar allows.

The Neighborhood:

Black Bear Lodge sits in the Mt. Crested Butte base village on Hunter Hill Road, directly across from the West Wall Lift and Westwall Lodge. This is the closest cluster of condos to the West Wall chair — you walk outside, cross to the Westwall courtyard, and take the skier tunnel to the lift in about 3 minutes, no shuttle needed.



Surrounding base area (5-min walk): ski rentals, equipment tuning, casual restaurants (burgers, pizza, tacos, coffee), après-ski bar, and a general store for groceries or last-minute supplies.



Downtown Historic Crested Butte: 3 miles down the mountain (8-min drive, or free Mountain Express shuttle). The original mining town has been preserved — Elk Avenue runs 6 blocks of painted Victorian buildings, independent restaurants (casual to fine dining), craft breweries, art galleries, live music on weekends, and the farmers' market in summer.



Season Breakdown:

♡ Winter (Nov–Apr): World-class skiing, steep terrain, Nordic tracks, ice skating downtown.

♡ Summer (Jun–Sep): Wildflower Festival in July, hiking + mountain biking from the base, Evolution Bike Park, fly-fishing on East River.

♡ Fall (Sep–Oct): Aspen peak color late September, Kebler Pass drive (35 min) is legendary.

♡ Spring (May): Mud season. Quieter; good for off-peak deals.



Airport: Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional (GUC), 28 miles south, ~40 min. Direct winter flights from Denver (DEN), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Chicago (ORD). Driving from Denver: 230 miles, 4.5 hr via I-70 and Hwy 135 (watch for Monarch Pass in winter).



Altitude: 9,375 ft at the condo. Plan on a low-exertion first 24 hours and aggressive hydration.



Getting Around:

✔ Heated underground parking: 1 assigned space per reservation (included). Access code sent via guidebook.

✔ Walk to West Wall Lift: approximately 3 minutes via the outdoor tunnel at Westwall Lodge (no shuttle required).

✔ Walk to Mt. Crested Butte base area: ~5 minutes for shops, dining, rentals.

✔ Free Mountain Express Shuttle: stops at the base village, runs every ~15 min to historic downtown Crested Butte.

✔ Drive to downtown: 3 miles, ~8 min.

✔ Drive to GUC Airport: 28 miles, ~40 min.

✔ Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): available but limited coverage, especially in winter early mornings. Taxi service also operates locally.

✔ Rental cars: available at GUC airport. 4WD/AWD strongly recommended November through April.

✔ EV charging: not currently available at the building — nearest charging is at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (5-min drive).



Garage size heads-up: the underground garage is built to mountain-condo scale. Standard SUVs, sedans, and crossovers fit with room. Full-size pickups and vehicles with roof ski racks may need to use surface parking (first-come) if clearance is tight — fold your side mirrors on entry.



Other Things to Note:

▵ Elevation — The condo sits at 9,375 ft. Altitude symptoms (headache, fatigue, poor sleep) are common the first 24 hours. Hydrate aggressively, go easy on alcohol night one, and pace your first day on the mountain.



▵ No A/C — Mt. Crested Butte stays cool year-round (summer highs ~75°F, nights drop to 50s). Windows open.



▵ Heated underground garage — 1 assigned space per reservation. Garage is sized for standard mountain-town SUVs. Full-size pickups or vehicles with oversized rooftop ski boxes may need surface parking (first-come).



▵ Sleeps 4 maximum — both bedrooms have queen beds; no pullout sofa. House rule is strict 4-guest max.



▵ Not pet-friendly — per building HOA rules.



▵ No smoking, no parties — standard Traverse policy. Smoking on the balcony or grill deck triggers a cleaning fee.



▵ Quiet hours — 10 PM to 8 AM per building rules.
