A small apartment in the center of Cosenza, between the old and "new" parts of town.
A studio apartment located in a building dating from the early 20th century. The building is situated between two bridges: the San Francesco di Paola Bridge, designed by the Spanish architect Calatrava, and, further south, the Alarico Bridge. Located on the first floor and spread over two levels connected by a spiral staircase, it consists of: 1) Kitchen with French doors opening onto an adjacent courtyard, equipped with: heat/cool air conditioning, a full kitchen with oven and gas stove, a refrigerator with built-in freezer, a washing machine, a kettle, a coffee maker, a toaster, groceries, cleaning supplies, and everything needed for a basic stay;
2) Bedroom with a window and a walk-in closet; equipped with a heat/cool air conditioner, radiator, and TV; Adjacent bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet, hair dryer, cleaning supplies, and everything else needed for a basic stay.
Unattended parking space in front of the building, reserved for residents. The studio apartment is the starting point for various excursions. Take a tour of the historic center, unique for its still-raw and rustic charm. Immerse yourself in a walking tour that will let you experience its millennia-old history firsthand—a leap into a past that’s still very much present, offering an evocative and traditional atmosphere; Walking up Corso Telesio, you’ll come to Piazzetta Toscano, an archaeological site featuring Roman walls built over Greek ruins. Continue uphill and stop for breakfast at the historic Bar Telesio, then proceed along the street of the same name, where every staircase, intersection, gateway tells its own story until you reach the Cathedral of Cosenza: the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, built in the Cistercian Gothic style, an architectural gem recognized by UNESCO as a “testament to a culture of peace”; Stately mansions, including Palazzo Campagna; The Norman-Swabian Castle, perched like a hat atop the historic center, offers a panoramic view of the city; The Rendano Theater, the historic villa, the Prefect’s Palace, and much more are worth seeing; It’s entirely up to you whether you’d like to visit the various museums: the Museum of the Bretti and Enotri, the National Gallery, the Diocesan Museum, the House of Cultures, and the Museum of Arts and Crafts...; Churches: Sant’Agostino, San Domenico, and the Cathedral are worth a visit for their beauty and historical significance. If you feel like it—and it’s entirely up to you and your sense of initiative—you can continue on foot through “New” Cosenza; the MAB (open-air museum) will guide you through part of the city, stroll along Viale Parco, and admire the majesty of the San Francesco Bridge, designed by architect Calatrava. There is so much more to see. Cosenza’s strategic location allows you to explore the natural beauty the region has to offer. If you have a car, in just 45 minutes you can reach the beautiful beaches of the Tyrrhenian or Ionian coasts. Unique towns and villages such as Paola, San Lucido, Fiumefreddo, and Amantea offer beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque sunsets. And if you’re looking to cool off from the heat, another 90-minute drive (45 minutes from Cosenza) will take you to the Sila National Park, with its pristine forests. Here, you can go on bike rides (for the more experienced, there’s the Ciclovia dei Parchi della Calabria, a 550-km route); stroll through the woods, and enjoy the tranquility of unique places like Lorica and the village of Mancuso, where the many farms and trattorias offer a lifestyle centered on good food and good living. We’ll welcome you as our guests, not as tourists.
