Charming cabin
Excellent location for hiking, exploring the wineries, or just getting away. The hot tub after a long day of hiking in the Shawnee was definitely a plus.

Perfect weekend
Had an amazing stay, super clean, spacious, exactly what we needed for a weekend away. Wineries all nearby and great hiking trails close. Hot tub was super nice and was the cleanest we've ever had at a rental. Would def recommend if ever going to southern IL!

Nice rural cottage.

Very clean and comfortable, very quiet, peaceful location!
Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a nice getaway in southern IL. The hot tub is great, everything is very clean and comfortable. If you have kids, there’s a nice separate area they can sleep and hang out in as well. Pet-friendly as well if you are traveling with a dog (extra deposit for that I believe). I had a great weekend!

January weekend
Had a great two night stay at this property. Quiet location and hot tub were highlights. The house was great for two people, but could easily fit another two kids in beds and another two in the loft area, which they would love. We're excited to visit this property again soon.

Great Holiday Cabin
The hot tub is as advertised. Great condition and well maintained. Little home is everything you need in a getaway cottage. Lots of hiking trails a very short car ride away. Good stargazing on a clearer night.

Best vacation I've had in a very long time. Privacy and convenience with numerous wineries and distilleries within a 15 miles radius. The property was very clean and comfortable. I look forward to staying again soon.

It was a great place to stay with some hiking places nearby. Hot tub was wonderful on a cold winter night! We didn’t get a chance to use the place much because of some awesome scenery to see hiking in the Shawnee.

Amazing Anniversary Winery Getaway
What a beautiful home in a beautiful location with amazing wineries all around so close by. The house was so nice and cozy, and the hot tub was an extra bonus to celebrate an amazing Anniversary. My husband and come to Southern Illinois almost every year now for our anniversary to the wineries & we love it. We will definitely be back to the house again, Even with the rain, me slipping in the mud in front of the house and becoming a muddy mess it made for some laughs. To be honest it hadn’t rained is so long and it was so dark and I slipped on the rocks. Besides being a little muddy we laughed and had a blast and thankfully they had a dryer so I could clean up my clothes and shoes. Once again we will definitely be back. The wineries, this house, oh and the iron whisk, made the weekend so memorable. Can’t wait until next year.

Quiet getaway
Great place to stay in/near Shawnee National Forest. Chose this house for a trip to hike in the national forest and didn’t realize it was so vast. Quiet, rural setting with woods on 3 sides. Reasonably close to I-57 too. Nicely set up house with a deck, outdoor hot tub, and a fenced in back yard to keep the dog contained. Nice place.

Felt like home.
We really enjoyed the house and the hot tub was great! The house was clean and had everything needed for the kitchen as well as clean towels. My only complaint is that the bed in the main bedroom is not a queen as listed. Also there is no water near the property as suggested in the photos.

Highly Recommend!
This property is awesome! It's so quiet, private and peaceful! Very comfortable and lots of space for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Our dogs enjoyed the fenced yard and deck while we enjoyed the awesome hot tub and fire pit. I can't say enough how enjoyable it was and felt like home. We stayed 5 nights and didn't see anyone near the property beyond cars driving by on the road out front, which can't be seen from the back where we spent most of our time there. It's a 22 minute drive to the nearest grocery store, thanks to the hosts for recommending the closest town of Anna for essentials. There's a washer and dryer too which was a bonus. Very clean and met all of our needs and went beyond our expectations. If you want seclusion and quiet this is it. On the wine trail and so many hiking trails! Don't miss the Makanda Boardwalk and Giant City hiking and the fried chicken dinner/lunch at the lodge there! We got it to go since we had our dogs along, so good we went back the next day for more! I would definitely stay here again, thank you to the hosts for providing a spacious yet cozy home at an affordable price!

Fun getaway
We loved the location of where this little place was at. The yard is fenced in down below, but there's not a gate covering the other steps outside the side door to let them out. The lights along the deck in the back yard were not working so it was very dark at night trying to see the dogs! There were some damp linens and towels left in the dryer from previous stay and one fire alarm wouldn't stop beeping because of low battery. All minor issues though and all in all, we had a great time and loved being able to bring the dogs along as well!!

Comfortable home
Gorgeous vistas on way to this house from Carbondale. Saw many deer and a few horses by the side of the road. Approximately 30 minutes to SIU. Clean and attractive property. One suggestion would be to switch out the harsh white/cool lightbulbs for softer warmer white lightbulbs. Not all the dimmers worked and some dimmers would flicker. ( I think dimmers don’t work with LEDs) Otherwise, we had a great experience. Oh and the star gazing on the deck was amazing! Lots of stars and dark, clear skies. Love all the windows, nice and bright living room. This probably goes without saying but bring your own shampoo and body soap. And coffee.

An excellent choice
We were in the area for the SIUC graduation. It was a bit further out than anticipated but the VRBO was an excellent choice. It was very clean and welcoming when we arrived. The owners have thought of many details to make the stay fun and comfortable. The layout of the home worked beautifully for my family and we all found it relaxing and peaceful. We had a little trouble with the water in the shower but the owners were actively working on fixing the problem. I would definitely rent from them again.

Quiet Week
A nice place in a quiet location. Easy to get to local attractions and wineries. There could have been more info on the TV, we never did figure it out. Also, the kitchen was not as promised, with few dishes and no serving-size bowls. Other than those two observations, a tranquil place.

Quiet and serene
This property was great for a couple to go and relax out in the middle of nowhere. And had a great fenced in yard for the dog. Big plus for the hot tub built into the deck. If you were looking for something nice and quiet and tucked away, this is a great choice.

Quiet Getaway
Easy to find and nestled in the back roads of Alto Pass. Well kept location with many amenities for both humans and fur friends alike. Much time was spent outside the location for the close attractions of hiking and shopping in small business. If you are also interested in Bald Knob Cross, this is a prime location, setting very close to the entrance to visit. Would highly recommend if you want to set back, relax, and get back with the peacefulness of nature and a lot that Southern Illinois has to offer. Thank you for a great stay.

2 days on the wine trail
The property was a good location for the wine trail. (Some of the wineries are only open Thursday-Sunday). House is cozy and well stocked with necessities. Could easily sleep 6 if you weren’t needing privacy. Only drawbacks- very little hot water and the exterior lights stay on all night and make it hard to sleep

Wonderful Getaway!
Fantastic stay in the perfect little house. Lots of beautiful nature all around. Highly recommend hiking The Little Grand Canyon and Inspirarion Point. Just beautiful. It was great to finish a long day in nature with a soak in the hot tub. Cabin had everything you need and some extras. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
