I would highly recommend this house to people staying in the Salem area although it is only an hour from Portland. So it might be an option for that as well. We found the original pancake house. "Cute cottage. Very nicely renovated space. BUT anyone with any mobility challenges or any nervousness about stairs should probably not choose this spot. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and a bit unusual. Bedroom and bath are on separate floors and the bedroom had a steeply sloped ceiling. Very picturesque, cozy, well furnished, etc but may not work for everyone."

"Excellent location: walkable to downtown; easy access to US highways for day trips (w/in one hour of the coast); quiet, quaint neighborhood. Excellent property: immaculate, well-furnished; kitchen modern, spotless, a cook's heaven--you could effortlessly prepare and host a seven-course, Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen. If the host did long-term leases, I'd rent Vine Street Cottage for a year and forego apartment hunting."
