Perfect Yosemite Base
Even a bit nicer than the photos! The beds are super comfy, the place was spotless, we cooked huge meals and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The BBQ had propane, there were hand juicers, and three different ways to make coffee. We walked in and were very happy with the booking. The windows in the living space are massive and let in a ton of light and the deck is spacious. We had a great time over New Years. The neighborhood is cozy and quiet and an easy drive to the park without having to wait at the gate, you can get to Tunnel View in about 20 minutes. Really the location is quite superb. The hosts answered our last-minute questions with quick responses and check-in and check-out were a breeze. Make sure you don't forget your toiletries like we did, there's only two places in Yosemite to buy shampoo. The upstairs bathroom has a great shower with lots of water pressure and the bath is so nice. Hope to come back again one day. Thanks for having us!

Location is great. For the nightly rate it would be easy to update some items…toilet seats, air filters, well used pots and pans and clean upholstery. Easy communication with owner.

Location great, facility a disappointment
The location was great for our trip; however, the cleanliness was not good. I have stayed in rustic cabins and understand what comes with that type of lodging. However, cleanliness is expected as a standard especially for our cost to stay. The carpet was dirty (all over), furniture was dusty and stained, kitchen cabinets doors where dirty, screen door was broken, etc. There was a "large" spider web (and spiders) in the bathroom which based on size has been there a long time. We were asked not to come to the house until the cleaners had time to clean (not sure they cleaned at all). No way would we stay at that house again or recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

Rose, thank you for your comments. We're not happy to hear that you found the house cleanliness to be lacking, and have let our housekeepers know. If we'd known about this while you were staying there are some things that could have been remedied while you were out enjoying the park (for instance, the spider web and dust). The screen door was broken by a previous guest and unfortunately as we're in the Bay Area it's proven difficult to bring a replacement up yet. We're taking your comments seriously and are truly sorry for your experience.

Perfect for our needs
The hosts, Michelle and Peter were helpful in our pre-trip planning to make sure we were prepared for half-done and were easy to communicate with while we were at the house. The cabin house was perfect for our needs and was very clean. When they warn you about the bear activity make sure you do everything they tell you! There was bear activity in the neighborhood and we even saw a coyote waltzing down the street!

A very good time in Yosemite !
We really enjoyed our time in the house and the access it gave us to all the hot spot to visit in the Park. The house is mainly very comfortable and well equiped, like it is advertized. However, we had to make a few guesses to find out how to set up the last two beddings. But on the whole, nothing to say : we would book that house again if we were to come to Yosemite again.

Refreshing evenings on the deck
The most enjoyable feature of Hummingbird Raven house was that after a hot, sweaty, crowded, gorgeous, awe-inspiring day in Yosemite Valley we fixed a simple dinner and relaxed on the deck, drinking in the view, the quiet, and the cool breeze. It was heavenly. We considered ourselves better off than the rest of the family staying at the Ahwahnee. The hosts were very friendly and easy to work with, and clear in communications. We appreciated the nicely functioning refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, DVD player, fans in each room and comfortable bed. The furnishings and flooring are not new and the odd interior staircase was intimidating, but we were fairly warned. The facility is pleasantly close to Yosemite Valley, came as advertised, yet actually provides a much more enjoyable retreat in the forest than words can describe. Bravo to Michelle and Peter!

Nice, comfy home on a great location
We enjoyed our stay at the house. It was very clean and on a great location- 20 mins from the tunnel and 40 mins total from the house to the visitor center. The house is comfortable and our entire family were pleased with it. Owners were very responsive throughout the entire process. Some areas of the house are dated but they are clean, which is the most important aspect for us. Overall, nice stay.

It was a cozy home however it would be wonderful if it hand an extra shower, more curtains in the living room. Kinda felt a bit awkward at night but overall really love the place 4/5 stars ❤️ P.s the carpet/floor on master bed room was lifting ( there was a bump)

Wonderful weekend
The house was wonderful! It was easy to find and a great location. It had several home improvements since the photos were taken - including a new TV, electric stove top, oven, and stainless steel refrigerator. The owners had several thoughtful touches, including having an expansive DVD collection and laundry detergent available for the laundry machines.

Not as expected
This house is in need of a good cleaning. Carpets very dirty. Fabric on living room furniture dirty. Six fabric covered chairs, all dirty. Very worn toilet seat. Broken shower drain. Microwave dirty and rusted. Sofa pillows have holes. Fabric door on Master toilet. BBQ too dirty to use. I expected more for the price paid. Disappointed. We do not recommend.

Location
You are paying for the location here. You are essentially in the park. But you are still 45 minutes from the heart of hiking and trails at Yosemite Valley. One big negative is that there is NO Wi-Fi or cellular service at this location. This made it very difficult to navigate and plan during our stay. I felt for the price of the stay, an internet connection would be appropriate. The cabin was the perfect size for our group. Although the flooring and carpeting was very worn and warped in some areas.

Hi James, thank you for staying with us. We would love to have wifi, but trees surrounding the house block satellite access. We do say in our listing that there's no wifi and no cell service in Yosemite West.

Vacation Saver
We were supposed to be staying in Curry Village but due to winter damage our tent cabin was cancelled at the last minute. Thanking we found this place. It allowed us to stay in the park and avoid the line to enter the park gate at El Portal everyday. It’s a little way from the valley floor but it is very nice, quiet, and peaceful neighborhood. It had everything we needed, hot showers, kitchen with all the needed tools, and plenty of beds for the whole crew. It would have been great to get to Glacier Point for sunset/sunrise but unfortunately the road was still closed due to the abundant snow this year. All in all a great experience.

Early May Stay

Beautiful location and a short drive to the amazing "Tunnel View" and then onto the Valley floor. Also close to Glacier point road. The cabin was lovely, all the amenities we needed and lots of space for the 5 of us. We loved it!

Perfect Location
The Hunmingbird is the perfect spot to stay in Yosemite, about halfway between the valley and Mariposa grove. The beds were so Comfortable! The carpet/furniture is quite worn and stained, for us this house was all about location.

Family getaway
We took our toddlers with us to Yosemite and used the cabin as a basecamp, which worked out great for us. It isn't a very long drive to the valley, and you get to drive through tunnel view every day, so that's a plus. We had plenty of space and really enjoyed the deck, plus the beds were very comfortable. Just had to keep an eye on the kids near the spiral staircase, but no issues for us. Great time!

Just perfect!
Plenty of room for all, plenty of beds, well-equipped kitchen and home, clean. Nice location in that we didn't have to leave/re-enter Yosemite each day. Great stargazing out on the deck. One caution--watch the circular metal stairs--one in our party hurt their foot on it and had to sit out a hike.

Overall good; very few negatives
Nice cabin in the beautiful forest. Negatives= no air conditioning and several windows were broken. Inside is dated and carpet needs deep cleaned. My husband had to drive to a neighbor‘s house to get Wi-Fi so he could do a little bit of work. no TV stations. No rubber spatula to flip my eggs. BUT THESE ARE THE ONLY NEGATIVES! The kitchen was fully equipped with many pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot; The washer and dryer was great, there was plenty of hot water for four people, plenty of beds and at least there were fans to help combat the heat. There were plenty of DVD movies to choose from… And you don’t go to a cabin in the woods to watch TV anyway! We thought the beds were comfortable. Overall it was a wonderful, quiet, beautiful retreat. I’d stay there again.

Terrific location for Yosemite exploration
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend if you are exploring Yosemite for a few days. Communication was excellent, super easy to find with the directions, and everything about the rental was smooth. The deck really is great for enjoying the outdoors, and the property was stocked with everything one would need for cooking, eating, morning coffee, etc. Worked very well for us and met our needs. Great location!
This house is in a great location to get to all parts of the Park and hikes. So peaceful at night, we so enjoyed sitting out on the deck and enjoying dinner and a glass of wine. The stars and sunsets were amazing! Lots of comfy beds too!

In the park- very rustic
The location is fantastic and the deck very nice. The interior itself is extremely outdated and worn furnishings, mattresses, sheets , pillows and towels. The carpets are disgusting. The coffee machine didn't work and only instant provided. It could be so much nicer - over priced but maybe if you have a big family, lots of kids and pets and want to be in the park it would be good value.

Thank you for staying at our home in Yosemite West and we’re glad you enjoyed both our home and the park. Our fees are comparable to all other homes in our neighborhood. We'd like to point out that there is a back-up coffee maker at the house, if in the unfortunate event of a problem with the primary coffee maker. We provide personal contact information for both us and our housekeepers (who live in Yosemite West) so that any issues that you encounter may easily be addressed. For the items you discuss, we have contacted our housekeepers; these could have been addressed directly during your stay rather than two weeks after you departed. Again, we’re glad you enjoyed Yosemite during your stay.

Maintenance and cleanliness were substandard
Health and Safety issues: • Shower drain broken. Someone could easily break a toe or cut their foot. • Rugs downstairs continually bunching up and causing a tripping hazard. • At least two spindles on the circular staircase are loose; one is completely missing top screws and could cause injury. • Some outlets don’t work; one of them sparked when we plugged something in; many seemed loose. Fire hazard. • Dishwasher unsecured; pulling out the bottom rack makes it tip forward; might or might not fall on a child. • Keypad on stove loose; might be a short/fire hazard. • LED lights in kitchen don’t work. General maintenance/cleanliness: • Entire house hadn’t been dusted for quite a while. • Tables inside and outside were dirty; dried food and/or greasy feeling. • Kitchen cabinet doors; all dirty looking and greasy feeling. • All floor fans were generally quite dusty/dirty. • Food burnt into the microwave under the platter; plainly visible; obviously not cleaned. • Several window cranks were broken/not working correctly. Screens had holes, were bent, and there were attempts to tape into place. • Adequate number of towels, but no washcloths and only one hand towel for the entire house. • The large drawers in master bedroom were full of excess sheets; should have been empty for guests. • Random cloths piled on shelves in the closet. • No stopper in sink in master bedroom; wasteful of water. • Gutters should be cleaned, and outside steps (and patio) should be blown free; looked like definitely more than one season’s worth of debris.

As you commented previously: yes, our Yosemite home is conveniently located inside the park and close to all the main visitor sites. Also, and as you indicated, we're glad you enjoyed your visit our home and the park. We immediately passed your relevant observations on to our housekeepers and will be traveling up to our cabin to follow-up. We are puzzled that you did not contact us or our housekeepers during your stay, despite having our contact information both in the emails we exchanged prior to your visit and posted conspicuously in the cabin. Instead, you preferred to email us almost a week after you departed. We'd also like to take this opportunity to point out that for a (very small) number of guests a vacation cabin may not be the best accommodation; instead, they may be better served with a more traditional hotel where concierge and housekeeping services are available on call 24/7.

Pleasant stay in Comfortable home at Great Location
Six odf us stayed in this comfortable home and ot was more than adequate for our needs. Plenty of beds, plaenty of indoor and outdoor spce. Well stocked kitchen, nice outdorr deck. Be aware that cell phnie, wifi and TV are very patchy, but we knoew this before going in. Ideally located for day trips to mariposa for the Sequoias, Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point.

The location was perfect. Centrally located inside Yosemite. We were close to Glacier Point Rd and took advantage of the short drive to do evening hikes to watch the sunset on three of our four nights. The house had comfortable beds. It was a great house for our family of 2 adults and 3 teens but there are stairs to get to the kitchen and living room area which could be a challenge for anyone with issues with stairs. It was handy to have a washer and dryer. The back deck was peaceful and relaxing. We even saw a black bear venture through the back yard.

Relaxing mountainside cabin!
This was an incredibly relaxing place to stay while we spent our week exploring Yosemite. It gave us easy access to the valley, Glacier Point, and Wowoma/Maraposa Grove and was nice to get away from the summer crowds. The only downside was the lack of A/C because our visit was during a heat wave (100+ degree temps in the valley). There were plenty of fans in the house so we were able to manage it at night.

Perfect launching spot for exploring Yosemite!
My husband and I rented the property to host our children aged 25(and spouse), 23, 20, 16 and 7. The married couples were able to have their own space and the other kids had room to sleep on the four bunks and futon with room to spare. We went into the 1 1/2 bath situation with eyes wide open and with cooperation and courtesy to each other, we were able to manage it without any problem. The spiral staircase was a little treacherous for my husband with a bad ankle, and I would not recommend the property for elderly or disabled persons, unless the were content to stay upstairs the entire time (easy access from parking, bedroom and bathroom all accessible upstairs). The patio deck was spacious and the view lovely. We ate all our meals in the cabin and had plenty of dishes, utensils and cooking gear to accommodate us all. The drive was a pretty even 30 min from the house to Yosemite Village, Glacier Point and Mariposa Forest.

Thank you for staying with us, Don, and we're so glad that you and your family enjoyed the Hummingbird Raven House. Because of the spiral staircase, we always recommend that anyone who has elderly folks or anyone with mobility issues in their group to stay at our other Yosemite West vacation rental home, the Hummingbird Pines House. That house has two steps into the house, and two bedrooms, a full bathroom, kitchen and large living room on the ground floor.

We don't have an attic, but it's possible that one got inside when a door was open and was high up in the rafters. National Park Tour
This property was perfect for my wife, son and myself. Great location within Yosemite NP. Very clean and plenty of sleeping arrangements. Prompt responses with owners. I would stay there again

Great location
Super property for our first Yosemite experience. The property was clean and easy to find. Great location within the park. Found a few non urgent issues and owners were responsive. Would definitely rent again.

Ideal location to explore Yosemite
Seamless and detailed clear communication about how to find, get entry, ground rules, and departure. Cabin perfectly described on VRBO- no surprises or disappointments. Location just a mile from Glacier Point Drive with glorious Glacier Point and trailheads for 5 wondrous hikes (do got to Sentinal Dome!).
