After a day of exploring, unwind in a peaceful home base with easy access to the best of the Traverse City area.

Guests will have full access to the home during their stay! There is a utility room in the walkout basement that is locked for some of the owner's personal belongings.

You're staying in Clearwater Shores, a quiet, established lakefront community tucked along the south end of Elk Lake in Williamsburg. This is one of the most coveted stretches of shoreline in the region — a peaceful enclave of well-kept homes set among mature hardwoods, where mornings start with mist rising off the water and evenings end with sunsets reflecting across the bay.

The pace here is decidedly Northern Michigan: slow, friendly, and oriented around the lake. Neighbors wave from passing pontoons, kayakers glide past at sunrise, and the soundtrack is mostly loons, lapping water, and the occasional ski boat. You're a short stroll from a 100-foot neighborhood public lake access point, perfect for launching a paddleboard or just dipping your toes in. Roads in the subdivision are paved, lightly trafficked, and ideal for an evening walk or bike ride.

While the setting feels secluded, you're never far from anything. Williamsburg's essentials — Turtle Creek Casino, the Music House Museum, and a handful of local eateries — are within five minutes. Acme (with Grand Traverse Resort, Meijer, and the lakeside trails along East Bay) is a quick 10 minutes west. Downtown Traverse City — Front Street's restaurants, breweries, boutiques, and waterfront — sits just 25 minutes away, close enough for a dinner out and an easy drive home. Elk Rapids, with its small-town shops and Lake Michigan beach, is about 15 minutes north.

For active guests, this location is a launching pad: you're 2 miles from Flintfields Horse Park, a few minutes from A-Ga-Ming Golf Club, and within easy reach of the Old Mission and Leelanau wine trails, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and the Chain of Lakes (Elk Lake connects through to Lake Skegemog and Torch Lake by boat).

It's the rare combination of true lakefront privacy with everything Northern Michigan has to offer just a short drive away.

A car is essential for this stay. Like most of Northern Michigan, the area is car-dependent — there's no public transit out to Elk Lake, and rideshare (Uber/Lyft) coverage can be spotty, especially in the evenings or off-season. Plan to drive in and have a vehicle for the duration of your trip.

By Car
The property has ample parking with a 2-car detached garage and additional paved driveway space. Most destinations are an easy drive on well-maintained roads:

Downtown Traverse City: ~25 minutes via M-72 West and US-31 South
Elk Rapids: ~15 minutes north via US-31
Cherry Capital Airport (TVC): ~25 minutes
Flintfields Horse Park: ~5 minutes via M-72
Old Mission Peninsula wineries: ~30–40 minutes
Leelanau Peninsula & Sleeping Bear Dunes: ~45 minutes to 1 hour

Flying In
Most out-of-town guests fly into Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, which offers daily nonstop service from Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, and several other major hubs. The airport is about 25 minutes from the property. Rental cars are available on-site from the major agencies.

Rideshare & Taxis
Uber and Lyft operate in the Traverse City area, but availability drops significantly the further you get from downtown TC. Expect longer wait times and higher fares from the Williamsburg/Elk Lake area, particularly late at night or during shoulder seasons. If you're planning a wine-tasting day or a night out in Traverse City, we recommend booking a local car service in advance — there are several reputable options including Up North Express and Tip-A-Few Tours.

On the Lake
Elk Lake is part of Northern Michigan's famous Chain of Lakes, navigable by boat all the way to Torch Lake and beyond. If you're bringing a boat, the closest public DNR boat launch is on the south end of Elk Lake, just a few minutes from the property. Kayaks, paddleboards, and small watercraft can be launched directly from the property's shoreline.

Biking & Walking
The neighborhood roads are quiet and scenic, ideal for an evening walk or casual bike ride. For more ambitious riders, the TART Trail system (including the popular VASA pathway) is a short drive away and connects much of the Traverse City area on paved and unpaved routes. Bring your own bikes or rent in town.

Winter Travel
Northern Michigan winters bring real snow (November–March), and the lake-effect belt can stack up several inches in a single storm. Roads are plowed and salted promptly, but all-wheel drive or snow tires are strongly recommended for winter visits. Allow extra travel time, and check road conditions before any longer drives.

these friendly reminders while enjoying your stay with us:
- Keep your well-behaved dog on a 6-foot leash while
exploring our property.
- We know it’s tough, but please try to keep your pup off the
furniture. This helps us maintain the place for everyone to
enjoy. Remember, any extra wear from our furry friends
might lead to a little surcharge.
- Please remember to clean up after your pup, whether inside
or outside. It keeps the space enjoyable for all!

- Smoking is NOT allowed indoors. Any evidence of smoking inside will result in a surcharge.



This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and security deposit. We know security deposits are annoying, so to make it easier on you we have 2 options that you can choose between:

Option 1: Damage Waiver ($55) - Have a worry-free stay with coverage for up to $3000 for accidental damage (spills, breaks, mishaps) with no surprise charges. Just relax and enjoy your stay. Coverage up to 10 nights, +$6/day for longer stays, and provided by a third-party insurance company.

Option 2: Security Deposit ($2500) - Refundable temporary hold that releases after your stay.
