"Historic hotel with friendly service in the Des Moines downtown district. Short walk to sculpture garden. River walk and Capitol with in 1.5 miles. Hotel is clean, well run and has some historic charm. Still a slightly upmarket bare bones place no flowers etc. Attached Hob Nobs restaurant has good coffee and a good ala cart menu. Good for omnivores and vegetarians may not vegan so much. "

"This was a lovely hotel, very close to the Skywalk, which is an amazing walking network, connecting much of the downtown area - safe, secure, and climate controlled. I was in a tournament at the Iowa Events Center and it was an easy 15 minute walk - no car, no hassle!

"ALL of the staff were so polite and willing to help. Our room was spotless with a gorgeous view. The shuttle was easy to access and to call for a return trip. This location also has many options for fun activities within walking distance. I can't say enough good things about our stay."

"The staff at the check in desk were so very helpful with arranging rooms closer together for my friend and I. They did it all with great humor. They answered all our questions about Uber, restaurants near the Civic Center, and helped me get signed into WiFi. The room was so spacious and clean and the bathroom was huge. One suggestion I have is to put grab bars in the shower, especially for those of us who aren’t as agile as we used to be. "

"Hotel was great we were only there for the night so we didn’t check out the area or anything. My only issue was at check in we were charged more than we should have been but we questioned it in the morning at check out and the manager took care of it no problem, so I wouldn’t really ding them much on that. The hotel was quiet, no airport noise, staff was friendly, they had a nice size pool and an activity room I would love to have at my own house! The breakfast was the best we have seen!
