We do indeed make everything from scratch, as we want to create a tasteful breakfast experience for guests! The grass is kept longer than most people are used to, so that we as a business are more integrated with our surroundings and create zones for bees and other insects so that our local wildlife benefits from it...namely the 3 hedgehogs that require crickets as their main diet and sadly grass that is cut very short cannot support insects. Essentially a more integrated truly sustainable hotel is our goal. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your Gotland visit!

Our grass is kept longer only in certain areas, as we are an integrative sustainable business, this means that we create zones for the guests to occupy and zones for insects and bees to in habit. Slightly longer grass provides better habitats for the wildlife on our grounds from hedgehogs, wild hares, pheasants, grouse and even deer, many of which need abundant amounts of insects to sustain them. Hope you understand our position on being a more integrative truly sustainable business.!

We're so sorry that you felt the price was high for what you received, perhaps you may not have realised your stay coincided with Almedalen week where all hotels in and around Visby are much higher priced than normal. We'd be happy to recommend other more cost effective alternatives for your next stay. We would like to point out that the room you booked is a self contained "apartment", with its own entrance and internal door you can lock off from the rest of the property, with a private bathroom not outside your room but part of the overall space and a mere couple of steps away from your bed l, all ensuring total privacy. The house is decorated with antiques furniture and art collected from Asia and Africa and all bathrooms are renovated to the highest spec including italian tiles, 100% brass (not steel) shower fittings, organic linen sheets and our aesthetic is, as our website says, an antidote to Scandinavian minimalism. We'll certainly take another look at our breakfast buffet and see what else could be added to the 25 items currently offered so as to ensure it is less "simple". From our lightly aged biodynamic organic gouda, to the homemade fully organic ingredients that go into our lux "nutella" and granola or the 4-5 jams that are handpicked and handmade by ourselves with many organic fruits and berries from our local environment. Plus the multiple breads we handbake from an ancient organic grain grown here on the island, or the 13 different organic luxury high end teas offered and the Puttersjaus milks and yoghurts which are almost triple the cost of mass produced Arla varieties and the freshly cooked to order organic free range eggs prepared however you want them. Please do get in touch and let us know what was missing. Thanks again for your feedback, we always strive to improve.

Regarding our price, we always try to ensure our pricing is competitive to Visby for a comparable sized room and bathroom design/style specification such as ours. We guess there was an aggressive promotion discount offered for this to have happened. We'll definitely have a look at our continental breakfast design, as we do feature a range of fruit, two types of freshly baked bread, multiple jams (all local artisan made), no-palm oil nutella made on site, 3 cereal types, a freshly made luxey breakfast cake, over 9 different teas, multiple types of coffee options and fresh local truly free range organic eggs-to-order at our egg station and of course 78% dark hot chocolate made to order. But do let us know what it was you were missing, so we can look at how we can improve things!
