  • Travel back in time with a stay in this historical house of character in Gozo’s charming capital Rabat. Shambala is a 900-year-old home, beautifully restored yet still brimming with traditional features – some so rare it’s a stop on several walking tours of Gozo. You’ll find Shambala peacefully situated along a network of beautiful cobbled walkways, themselves a fascinating slice of Gozitan history.
    Shambala 2 is a luxury studio, suitable for 2 adults and 1 child.

    Your self-contained studio inside Shambala is beautifully decorated to complement the traditional archways, high ceilings and sand-stone walls. In your room you’ll find a full-size double bed, a private bathroom with rain shower, a well-equipped kitchenette, high-speed Wi-Fi and a Smart TV. Shambala studio 2 is a few steps up from the ground floor, with easy access through keyless entry.

    Studio 2 also includes a large sofa which could be used as a child’s bed if required – please discuss with us at time of booking so we can arrange extra bedding. Maximum occupancy is two adults and one child. This studio also benefits from a second door offering private access to the cobbled walkway outside.

    Beyond your room you can enjoy a shared courtyard, as well as a beautiful rooftop terrace with sweeping views across Rabat and the Citadel. Pack a picnic or make use of the communal barbecue for dinner with unbeatable views.

    This is the perfect base for a stay on the magical island of Gozo. Not only are you just around the corner from the famous St George’s Pjazza and Independence Square, both with a great selection of bars, restaurants, galleries and shops; but you are also a short walk away from the central bus station where you can easily connect to other attractions on the island.

    You have private access to Studio 2 within Shambala - this is your own space, with private bathroom and kitchen. You`ll also have access to two communal areas - a small seating area on the first floor and a rooftop terrace, complete with BBQ.

    This is the perfect base for a stay on the magical island of Gozo.     3. Explore the fascinating history of Gozo with a walk around the Citadel followed by a visit to the Il Hagar Museum;
    4. Visit one of the nearby art galleries, such as Art Hall, the Upstairs Gallery, and Art e Gallery.
    5. Enjoy sunset on the rooftop terrace, listening to the birds chattering and watching the lights come up on the Citadel, while enjoying a glass of Maltese wine and a dinner of locally sourced Gozitan specialities.

    You are located right in the heart of Victoria, Gozo`s central town. From here, you have a long list of attractions to explore on foot. To explore the island at large, you are just a short walk from the central bus terminus where you can easily connect to all other towns.

    House guidelines:

    • At certain times of the year, ants and mosquitoes are a common problem on the island. We provide ant traps and repellent spray which normally work well, but you may want to pack additional mosquito protection. Please do your part to reduce ants by keeping food sealed and kitchen surfaces clean.

    • Smoking is not permitted in Shambala rooms or on the first floor communal area. Smoking is permitted on the rooftop terrace.

    • No parties or loud noises. Shambala is located in a quiet, historical area and it is important to respect our neighbours by keeping noise down, especially when entering and leaving the building and always after 11pm.
    • Our Tourism License does not permit us to allow external guests without written approval. Only residents of Shambala may use the common areas or be in the rooms.
    • The septic system is effective and works well – unless improper materials are flushed. Feminine products, nappies and wipes should be disposed of in the bin, and the only thing flushed should be toilet tissue.

    • The cleaning fee covers a general cleaning upon check-out. To avoid additional charges, please keep the studio reasonably clean and wash any dirty dishes before departure. Please dispose of garbage in the bins provided.

    • You can check in any time from 4pm to Midnight. Check-out is at 10am on day of departure.

    • We have coin units installed for air-conditioning, in order to ensure efficient and environmentally responsible consumption. Just a couple of euros is more than enough to run the air-conditioning for reasonable use, and we will load enough credit for reasonable use during your stay. We recommend switching off the air-conditioning when you are out of the room.

This unit was beautiful and unique! It was exactly as listed and the check in/check out process was clear. The pictures were accurate of the space and the amenities were great. Parking is not close so trying to manage loading and unloading our luggage was a little challenging. The unit is on the street level and every morning we were awakened from people walking by talking. It was an adjustment for us with the noise but would not deter us from staying here again. The owners were helpful and quick to reply to our questions/requests. If you are looking for a place to stay that brings you back in history and has a lot of charm, this is a great choice!
