Sandpipers at Steephill Cove will provide beautifully furnished holiday accommodation along with possibly the most iconic sea views and scenery on the Island, whether it’s a group of friends coming together or a family holiday, this wonderful holiday home is a truly fabulous place to stay on the Isle of Wight and can sleep up to 6 guests.

LOCATION:



Positioned on Steephill Cove’s shoreline, this detached three storey home lies just south-west of the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor.



Steephill is a traditional, unspoilt fishing cove with a sand and shingle beach nestled between rocky cliffs and smugglers coves. The secluded bay has no road access, which makes it a unique hidden gem, the parking and double garage for the property are just a short walk from the cliff top above. Once you find your way down the steps and sloping pathways to the property you certainly won’t be disappointed when you spy the bay, the scenery here is just fantastic, the eclectic mix of buildings in the cove make up a large part of its charm with brightly coloured beach huts and old fisherman’s cottages, with traditional deck chairs, lobster pots and fishing tackle dotted around the area, see what you can find hidden amongst the rock pools or simply just relax and enjoy watching the children swim in the clear waters or play at building sand castles on the beach.



If you like your seafood there are a couple of restaurants in the Cove (seasonal opening) serving fresh crab and lobster often caught by the Cove’s very own fishermen, If a snack is more to your liking, then a takeaway crab pasty would be just the thing from the Crab Shed or if you prefer some cake and coffee then maybe head to the Coves Coffee Shop and indulge in Isle of Wight ice cream and a homemade cake or a sandwich.



Ventnor is just over a mile away. Most of the town is built on a steep hill which leads to the beach, and there are a number of lovely tea shops, pubs and restaurants dotted along the esplanade, as well as quirky and bespoke shops, an award-winning park and a children’s paddling pool.

Stretch your legs and explore the amazing coastal paths in both directions from the property.

FIRST FLOOR

Master bedroom: king size bed, dressing table, wardrobes and Smart TV (apps only, no aerial) and sea view

Bedroom 3: zip and lock super king bed (made up as twin beds on request), fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers, Smart TV, wooden towel rail, rocking chair, porthole window and sea view

Bathroom: bath with overhead rain shower and shower attachment, hand basin, toilet, light up mirror and heated towel rail



OUTSIDE

Enclosed rear garden mainly laid to lawn, with a gate which opens directly onto the beach

Separate garage with private parking for up to 2 cars and bike storage

PLEASE NOTE:



Guests can choose to either pay a non-refundable damage waiver of £100 or provide a pre-authorised security deposit of £500 before check-in.

If the security deposit option is selected, no money will be taken unless damage is reported at the property within 7 days after departure.







This property can accept a maximum of 2 pet(s). The charge is £35 per pet, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own bedding for your pet(s). Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.



There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost.

No stag or hen parties are permitted at any of our properties.



There is a strict no smoking/vaping policy, inside all our properties.



Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels and cot linen as necessary.



Please be advised there is a narrow, steep path with several steps to climb down to reach the property entrance. This property is not suitable to guests with mobility issues.



The garage and private car parking spaces are not directly adjacent to the property.



Initial Logs for the open fire included.



Please be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival.



A breach of the above rules and guidelines could mean forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

Lovely but very expensive

Lovely location set in a small cove. Access to the property will be challenging for those who aren't fit as you have to navigate a very steep climb down (and then back up) with luggage. The property is nicely furnished and clean. Henry who looks after the property is great and really helpful. The bread, drinks, cake etc on arrival was a really nice touch. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, we felt that the experience didn't live up to the 5* star price that we were charged. The beds are really not comfortable - this feels like a critical aspect to get right in luxury accommodation. The bathrooms are ok, but not really up to date. We would definitely stay at Sandpipers again, but only if it was at a much more reasonable price. For the price we paid, we could have stayed in a luxury 5* hotel with breakfast and drinks. It is not good value for money. Hope that's helpful.

I can’t recommend this property highly enough. My young family loved it. The property was immaculate and the location is beautiful. I have already recommended it to friends and will definitely book again.

Exceptional in every way

This property is fabulous and simply stunning. We were the first guests to stay in the property after it came onto the rental market and we have only good things to report. The house is in a wonderful location; a private cove reached by a steep path - the clue being in the name - Steephill Cove. However my 88 year old mother-in-law manged it with no problem. Everything has been thought of and the property is extremely well equipped with everything you could need. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making this house comfortable for visitors with good quality fittings and we immediately felt at home. Caretaker Henry greeted us and helped with our luggage. A selection of very nice and imaginative foodstuffs had been left which was much appreciated. The view is of the small cove and out to sea. The property is literally on the beach and listening to the waves as you drop to sleep and wake in the morning was wonderful. The beds are very comfortable. There is plenty of drawer and hanging space with a good supply of hangers. You will find everything you want and more in the kitchen. The bathroom is modern and has plenty of storage space in cupboards. I would say however that although this is advertised a two bathroom property it actually only has one proper bathroom and the other shower is on the lower floor at beach level and has no toilet or basin with it. It is a wonderful facility for coming off the beach after a swim etc. and there is a second toilet on the living room floor level which is not mentioned. However, although it was not exactly what we were expecting in this one respect (and we have suggested that a floor plan would be useful) we would return to this property in a heart beat. We had a wonderful stay and were very sad to leave and certainly hope to return.
