Hi Stacie, As mentioned when we spoke, unless my understanding is wrong, it is generally understood that the cleaning fees we charge is for cleaning, sanitizing, and changing out linens between guests and not for every day personal tasks like washing dirty dishes, greasy pots & pans , or taking out overflowing trash bags full of food because there are times when our cleaning services schedule doesn’t coincide with checkout. I have never had anyone leave the cottage in the condition it was in after you left, including using brand new bath towels to wipe up muddy floors tracked in because of the rain instead of paper towels or better yet, the mop.

I am not really sure how to respond to this review except to say if you are interested in my little cottage, please trust the reviews I have from many years of satified guests. This guest text me the first night of thier stay saying that the fireplace was not working. This is listed as an amenity for cozy ambiance and though it has heat, it is not the main heat source in the cottage. I apologized for the inconvienence and told her that I was just made aware that it was no longer working from the previous guest who checked out the day before she arrived, and I had already ordered a replacement insert and was schedued to go up the following weekend to replace it. I also told her that the main heating unit was working fine and should keep them warm during thier stay. I'm not sure exactly what she did not like about my response or how I could have handled it any differently, but from that point nothing was going to make her happy. I recieved a text criticising me for how I handle my business, then additional texts with new complaints kept coming in for the rest of the night. By morning she said they were leaving and demanded a refund. I also told her that I would be up the following weekend, and would personally assess her other complaints at that time. When I arrived a few days later, housekeeping had not been in yet and the cottage was still clean. There was no frog poop or a mold smell, but I still decided to initiate her refund to save myself the hassel, but apparently, she is much better at this than I am.

Christina, I went back and looked at your inquiry in which you asked if you could float or swim off the deck. You did not mention the words floating dock and since the dock is a deck, I answered the question based on what I thought you were actually inquiring about, which was whether it was suitable to swim there. The floating dock broke loose a while ago during a high-water event. Rather than replace the floating dock which would break free again during a later event; I opted to add steps down the side of the dock for easy swimming access. I 'm sorry for the misunderstanding but I feel the replacement of steps in place of a floating dock doesn't compromise in any way the amenities I offer with the property.
