Summary:
Interior design enthusiasts will love this stunning traditional Maltese home which has been fully modernized with attention to detail, style, and character. This beautiful three double-bedroom property is in a lovely family neighborhood in the oldest part of the village – just a quick taxi or bus drive to Malta’s capital city Valletta as well as the airport. We know that this holiday home isn’t for everyone, and we’re happy about that. We’re looking for travelers (families, couples, or solo travelers) who want to enjoy a "home away from home" experience, treat 130 like it’s theirs, and respect our neighbors.
The Space:
This holiday home is in a typical Maltese village, so if you’re visiting Malta for the nightlife or the entertainment scene, then really, this isn’t the property for you. If, on the other hand, you’re curious about our local lifestyle, find our history, culture, and traditions intriguing, and would like to spend a few days "living like a local," then you’re sure to fall in love with 130. The house is a mix of contemporary design and a selection of carefully curated vintage mid-century furniture pieces. In each room of the house, you will find at least one particular original vintage piece, be it an armchair, a wardrobe, a light fitting, or even a vintage Maltese typewriter! We believe that this house truly offers an alternative to the usual mainstream holiday accommodation.
The ground floor boasts an open plan layout that includes a pretty cozy TV/lounge area upon entrance, a space perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the islands. A second open-plan living room and dining area that comfortably accommodates all guests is next, together with a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen that has everything you need to cook up a storm. The large panel of windows provides ample natural light and grants access to a 30 sq meter outdoor space which is equipped with an outdoor dining area, lounge seating area, and a hammock positioned under two luscious towering trees.
Upon going up the restored original one-hundred-year-old stone spiral staircase, one finds the first two bedrooms, each with its own distinct character and both set on traditional Maltese limestone “cangaturi” flooring, which is also over 100 years old. The master bedroom, with its own ensuite, on the right side of the hall features a very comfortable bespoke bed complete with a memory foam mattress, a vanity, and a large contemporary Italian-style bathroom. Complementing the master bedroom is a private terrace overlooking the garden.
The second bedroom has two single beds a workstation, a beautifully crafted baby cot, and a completely open traditional Maltese Balcony (Gallarija). Complementing this second bedroom is an original vintage 1950’s mid-century wardrobe in American Walnut. Each bedroom offers ample closet space for your belongings. Upon climbing a contemporary steel/wood/glass staircase, one finds the third double bedroom with its own ensuite and private terrace.

The Neighborhood:
Conveniently located just minutes away from Malta’s capital city and the Malta International Airport, Tarxien is one of the island’s local hidden village gems that offers a 'live like a local' experience like no other. The alleyways in Tarxien are gorgeous. Every detail is taken into account - whether it’s the color of the door that matches the flower pots or the pretty relics that adorn the façades, stop and look at the quaint features of a rural village. This village is pretty, really pretty. The churches in Tarxien are tip-top; decorated in the most flamboyant tapestries, rich colors, and other historical treasures - a wander around here just isn't complete without a church visit. Of course, Tarxien is probably most known for its Temples which are both just a minute's walk from the property: the Tarxien Temples where the most complex prehistoric structures on the island can be found and the World famous Hypogeum Temples. The beautiful medieval three cities (Birgu, Bormla, and Isla) are only a few minutes away by bus, and from there one can also take the ferry for a memorable trip to Valletta across the Grand Harbour. Our message to you is to stroll through the streets and hunt down typical Maltese-isms like a rustic bar, a lively band club, or even an old-school baker. You’ll make a ton of travel memories, that’s a promise.
Getting Around:
The island’s compact size makes exploring charming towns and stunning coastal views easy, while ferry services connect you to nearby islands like Gozo and Comino. You can easily explore the islands of Malta by renting a car, taking a bus, or opting for a taxi, all of which are simple solutions. Our Guest Experience Team is available to assist in organizing and providing more information on these transportation options.
