Comfortable, quiet, superb staff
Fantastic stay and will return. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable. My room was clean, quiet and very comfortable, and the leisure facilities (pool, sauna, steam room) great. The gym also looked good and well-equpped, although I didn't get a chance to use it. I'm looking forward to staying again.

Hannah on reception was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Room was spacious and was disabled friendly. The only downside of the visit was that I would have liked a larger menu in the restaurant in the evening. I would definitely stay there again though xx

Sad decline.
For the last year the management have excused the dramatic decline of this once fantastic hotel by saying there are huge changes in the pipeline. The only changes are a huge hike in prices and a further decline in service. Absolute shame.

Very comfortable, and lovely staff.
Lovely warm, dry room and very comfortable. A few spiders around, but not too bad. Carpets in the main hall a little threadbare so could use replacing, but apart from that (and a very expensive breakfast) it was lovely. Pool was a little cold though!

Down market motel at luxury prices
It’s really sad to see how far this place has fallen in so little time. I have stayed here regularly for ten years and will not stay again. I can live with the grottyness of the place and the lack of investment, but the ridiculous price rises, terrible service and absolute rip off breakfast prices are a disgrace. The icing on the cake was the grey haired manager with the South African accent ignoring the queue at the bar and serving himself and his mates. Being greeted whilst waiting at the breakfast queue with “what do you want” was another high light from a pig ignorant staff member. Such a sad decline in a once really good hotel.

Thank you for your review we are sorry to hear your stay was not to your satisfaction. we are in the starting process of upgrading the hotel and hope in the coming months to see improvements throughout the hotel. I will be reviewing the staff training to make sure something like this can be avoided in future.

Review of hotel room, bar and restaurant
First impression when entering hotel was not good the reception and corridor was very cold and corridor had ripped and dirty carpet. But on entering our room it was lovely and warm, comfy bed and lovely hot shower or bath. Restaurant and bar area was welcoming and pleasant. The food although not cheap was very good. Not sure it is 3.5 star more like 3 star.

Disappointing Stay.
Quite disappointing considering the Price of £107 inc Breakfast for an overnight stopover. Tired decor, Overnight fire alarm in the building, cut-off the Hot Water, so wasn't able to shower, but instead used a Kettle of Hot water for a wash in the sink. No apology from reception when this mentioned. Reasonable Full English Breakfast.

I have booked room with breakfast included however the hotel said that it’s not included, since the rate it’s low, which was not nice at all, since I have booked exactly what I have found online

Stay was pleasant enough. Rooms were clean. Temperature was too warm in the rooms so had to keep the window open. Was a little disappointing that there was no residents bar later at night.

Worst Hotel Stay
One of the worst stays we had. The room was bot clean at all. Booked for two of us and only had one towel and there was no handsoap. The room smelled muggy and dusty. When we went to the restaurant to eat it was a set menu and not at all what is advertised online. The menu consisted of chicken goujon starter and chicken supreme main. Worst food eaten for a while. Def. would not recommend staying there. They havent given the hotel any care for years and years and well the food. They should not be cooking any.

Wiltshire hotel near Calne.
Everything was great other than the room we had on the first floor had no air conditioning .We did however have an electric fan which did help a little but the room was ridiculously hot all of the time.Due to this experience i would not book any hotel room unless it had air con.

Hotel in perfect location with great staff
Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Rooms were basic, in good size, tidy and clean. Only disappointment was both sauna and jacuzzi were out of service.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Experience was so bad we checked in and checked out within 30 mins of arrival! Weekend plans ruined. Totally run down hotel well past it’s sell by date very rude and inexperienced staff who were extremely rude and insulting upon checkin. This hotel should not be on Hotels.com absolute S*** Show!!

Good little hotel that provides everything under one roof. Hotel getting a bit tired and staffed predominantly by youngsters who could perhaps do with a little guidance but who work hard all the same. Food and drink good standard and reasonably priced. Overall a reasonable standard but as previously stated hotel could do with smartening up before it gets a little tatty, priced accordingly.

Promised a lot but didn't deliver
Disappointing stay, which started poorly with a very tired looking reception and a receptionist who looked flustered, to the point she couldn't take my card details. The room was clean and a good size, although the bathroom was tired with cracked tiles and mouldy grouting and the shower cubicle was small. I ate in the restaurant and the food took far too long to arrive. The staff were pleasant and apologetic. I tried to put the bill on my room but that was an issue for them, although the waiter finally said he would sort it. I returned to the room to settle in for the night when I got a call from reception about 9.00pm asking me to make payment as I hadn't registered my card. I explained why and this was becoming a joke. She said OK, no apology or explanation! I used the gym, which was a good size with a good mix of equipment, but on closer inspection, all the benches were ripped and in a poor state, the cable machine was out of order and overall the place felt old and unloved. Sorry, this hotel is not for business users and I won't be staying again.

The Marie Celeste motel!
We came back here because we had been impressed by the dinner and breakfast when we stayed towards the end of August, less than 6 weeks previously. What a decline since then! We arrived around 16.30 and the reception staff had gone home, so we had to search for the skeleton staff in the bar. The skeleton staff were helpful in finding pillows and toilet rolls for the room but the restaurant was closed for dinner. We were disappointed to hear that breakfast would only be in a bag brought to our room but that there would be some choices eg of fruit. Not even that happened. No breakfast appeared in the morning. One of us searched for a staff member without success. Eventually we got hold of someone by telephone and our breakfast bags were found. The content was uniformly stodgy, chilled carbohydrate, nothing savoury and no fruit, apart from a yoghurt. Jam and butter were provided but no knife to spread them with. What a disappointment after our recent good experience there. Why should we ever return?
Breakfast - 2 croissants, 2 Danish pastries, yoghurt, orange juice, water.

We are struggling with Covid-19 as we only had 3 rooms the night you stayed with us and we just cannot open the restaurant with so few guests. The market is just not responding and I am sorry that we did not meet our expectations after your stay in August. I hope you will give us another chance afterf Covid-19 is resolved.

A little dated, small double bed in a room that could easily fit a king and uncomfortable. Generally clean and food was good especially the breakfast

Had a lovely time!
I chose The Whiltshire for a weekend for my husband's birthday. We had a fantastic stay mainly due to the Receptionist Kirsty who went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it. Would definitely recommend.

Nice Hotel and Swimming Pool
The Hotel was fine. Nice grounds and area. The only downside is that due to COVID-19 we couldn’t use the sauna or steam room or jacuzzi. Just had access to the swimming pool. However other than that, the property is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was OK despite being super hot the room stayed at a bearable temperature. The only flaw was the double bed we had was 2 singles that had been zipped together.
