I arrived at the property and was informed by both the property management and the security guard that there was no booking under my name. The owner later contacted me directly and confirmed that there was no reservation made through her, and that I was not the first person to arrive with the same issue. She explained that someone else had apparently listed her villa on Expedia without her authorization, which caused the confusion.
I then contacted Expedia, and their representative confirmed that there was indeed a booking associated with this location. Expedia attempted to contact the owner, and it was eventually clarified that the listing was under a different name and that the owner herself had never placed the property on Expedia.
Fortunately, Expedia was able to arrange alternative accommodation for me for the same length of stay. However, the process took over two hours on the phone. Since I was calling from Jamaica to the United States, this resulted in a lengthy international call that will likely lead to a significant telephone bill.
Given the inconvenience, stress, and additional expense caused by this situation, I would appreciate compensation or reimbursement for the international call charges and the disruption to my trip.
