The village has restaurants, a hotel, a village bakery, a dairy and a small shop. The Simplon region offers interesting tourist opportunities. The location is particularly suitable for hiking, biking and climbing.
Detailed information about the alpine hut: In this rustic, remote mountain hut you can switch off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hut is very cosy and has been lovingly furnished. It offers everything you need for a relaxing and cosy holiday. There are three other buildings in the vicinity, but only in one barn are the cows milked in the mornings and evenings in spring and autumn, otherwise you have the beautiful, well-kept surroundings to yourself and can enjoy the peace and quiet. The cosy forecourt, with a large table, a fireplace and a water fountain, invites you to linger.

Excursions: Simplon-Dorf lies halfway between Brig and Domodossola in Italy. Lots of hiking opportunities from the village or the pass. Even the small village is very idyllic and interesting to see. A day trip to Zermatt, Saas-Fee or Sion is always worthwhile. If the weather is bad, swimming in Leukerbad or Brigerbad is highly recommended.
Other living room equipment (living room 1): The kitchen, dining table and sofa corner are all in one cosy, bright room. As it is an alpine hut, everything is simply furnished.
Other bedroom furnishings (bedroom 1): A staircase leads to the newly converted room on the ground floor. The room is bright and furnished with a 140/200 bed and a wood-burning stove. From there you can go to the cellar or outside and this room cannot be darkened.
Other kitchen equipment (Kitchen1): In addition to the electric cooker (induction), it also has a wood-burning stove for heating, but can also be used for cooking. This is much appreciated, but requires a little patience and time. The wood is available at the hut. Since 2017 we have connected the Storm to the hut.

Location description: The mountain village of Simplon lies at 1476 metres on the south side of the pass of the same name. The municipal area covers 9,000 hectares. Simplon's architectural style, with its typical stone slab roofs, is something special, and the village centre is listed nationally in the Inventory of Swiss Sites of Cultural Interest (ISOS). The history of the Simplon region goes back to Roman times and before, as the pass with its culmination point at 2005 metres was relatively easy to conquer. Over the centuries, the Simplon region has seen the passing of war parties, pilgrimages, goods transports and crowds of tourists. The landscape is unique with its diverse fauna and numerous flora in a well-tended agricultural area. Agriculture is also an important source of income in the life of the mountain community, and Simplon is also home to commercial enterprises such as construction companies, joineries, transport companies and other businesses in the building industry. Permanent jobs are also provided by the power station company, the forestry district, the cantonal road maintenance service and the military. The primary schools are run in the village. The Simplon region offers interesting tourist opportunities in an extensive hiking and mountaineering area with inviting guesthouses.
