Asked if I could give them my stamped postcards so the postcards could be put in with the regular hotel mail and was told, “not possible, we don’t do that” - and I am fluent in Portuguese. Have been to many countries and this was the first time I was told my stamped postcards couldn’t be included with normal hotel mail."

Unless you are a lover of electronic music, make sure your dates do not coincide with the Frades Sunset Festival (a festival of 12-hour non-stop electronic music starting at 5pm on the beach below the west wall of the hotel - with the nicest views). We got a room on that side, but when we heard the testing of the sound equipment we realised what would be our "entertainment" for the night. Consequently, we contacted the reception immediately and they gave us...
