Awful treatment - Stay away from this place
Unfortunately I only read other travellers' reviews too late. When I did, I realised that many others have already had highly unpleasant experiences at Grande Murano, not least with the owner/receptionist Katerina. In my case, first, the hotel charged more than they were allowed according to the booking agreement; next, after I had commented that and gone to my room, Katerina knocked violently on the room door and started yelling. When I opened the door she yelled that I had to leave. Having received a very unfriendly welcome this was another surprise. But I certainly then felt very unwelcome. I said I would leave if Katerina returned the amount charged for my stay. She agreed to that. I had not had the time to unpack, and took my luggage to the reception to receive the refund. As Katerina was giving two other guests some travel information I politely waited. Ater she was done with those travellers she now refused to return the charge. She then indicated a rough-looking man, whom she said was the manager. I tried to explain my case, but the man started acting in a very treathening manner. At this backdrop I had no choice at all but leaving quickly. I called Hotels.com but to my surprise their manner of dealing with the case and their promises to help me have been deficient and below the level I previously expected and trusted. They did not call back when they said they would; they did not help me obtain alternative accommodation; and they have not helped me get the refund.
