Charmer in Downtown SA. Near River Walk / Alamo!

Our beautiful light filled home built at the turn of the century is located in the Five Points Neighborhood of Downtown San Antonio. Our home is a short drive to all the major attractions, including the River Walk, The Alamo, Six Flags, and SeaWorld, and is walkable to many restaurants, stores, and conveniences We provide an amazing outdoor oasis that includes a gazebo with a fan to give you shelter from the sun on those hot days, and a lighted firepit area to enjoy the outdoors day or night.

After heading up the large front porch you enter the home into a large foyer area with a bench to sit on. From the foyer you can walk straight into the sitting room, a nice comfortable spot in the center of the home with a speakeasy feel to it. The two dedicated bedrooms are large with tons of light entering through the massive windows with area rugs and ceiling fans, and king sized beds. There is an additional bed in the main living room that is a queen size sofa bed also. There are two bathrooms, one with a standing shower and one with a clawfoot soaking tub.

Our guests have access to our entire home with the exception of our locked supply and linen closet.

Our neighborhood is filled with many long-time residents, some well over 30 years. The neighbors are amazing people and very friendly. It is a downtown neighborhood, however, and there can be some transients/homeless walking around as in any downtown neighborhood. We have always had pleasant interactions with everyone. There is Sanchos Cantina, the Cove, and MK Davis restaurants, all within a very short walk as well as a local market for basic groceries just a block away. Also, being in downtown, it can be more noisy that a rural area home so please be aware of that also.

San Antonio has a seeminglyendless list of things to do! We find that the quickest way from point a to point b outside of walking distance is Rideshare such as Uber or Lyft You may also opt to take the city bus which can be caught just a half block away.

We provide a BBQ grill under a fan cooled gazebo. Or you can visit the firepit area and our propane fueled fire table. The backyard is an amazing place to relax.

Nice house, sketchy neighborhood

The house was very nice inside with extras and comforts that made it welcoming. The bathroom with the shower has a frosted window which can be seen through and right off a sitting area, making it awkward when staying with your parents. The only real issue we had was the bad neighborhood. There are homeless people at the end of the street and abandoned homes in the neighborhood. We were traveling with my parents and small kids so we were on edge the whole time. It was close to the Alamo and super easy to get to the touristy spots which was great. Overall a beautiful home close to everything, but not for a young family.

A Truly Charming Home

This home was just right for our week in San Antonio. Although we mostly used an Uber to get downtown there were a couple of days we ventured out and it was easy to navigate to and from. The home is updated and equipped with everything we needed. It was lovely to sit out on the front porch in the rockers or on the swing. The beds were very comfortable and Ben and Kat were great about sending updates or messages. If you are looking to visit San Antonio, I would definitely recommend this charming home.

The outside does not in tale the magnificent beauty and feel once you physically walk inside this home. Outside upgraded and modernized along with the inside; however, the moment you've walked in you're introduced with spacious rooms and tall ceilings. Clean linens.Kitchen dishes provided. Body wash. Shampoo. Conditioner. Hand soap.Coffee.Tea. Snacks.Washer.Dryer. Detergent. Dryer Sheets.Clean tidy atomsphere.Backyard. Family gatherings. The best southern love could offer in an old home to our family.My all time fav! The window in the living room with the built in bench and storage. Amazing hosts of an Amazingly beautiful restored property in a not-so-beautiful neighborhood

The good:This property is amazingly beautiful. Restored and inviting, comfortable and very clean. If you love restored vintage homes, this hits it out of the park! Well-stocked, inviting and very well set up for guests … we had all we needed and loved the home! Hosts were amazing and we felt well-looked after. This home in a nicer neighborhood would be 11 out of 10!The Not so Good:Our first impressions arriving in the neighborhood were not good … it’s run down and next to the freeway and just felt like we made a mistake picking a place in an unsafe neighborhood. Thankfully our hosts responded quickly to our concerns and reassured us it was safe and that the folks living there had been for years. We ran into a very kind and helpful resident lady who was walking her little dog who quickly identified us as tourists and said ‘yeah, this area is on the cusp of awesome and sketchy as you’ll see some homeless folks around this area’. Basically, if you’re looking for a place walkable to downtown and are walking straight there, you’ll be ok. Not a neighborhood to wander around and take in the curb appeal.Overall: LOVED the property, the details, the home environment and the hosts communication. As long as you’re not expecting to stroll around the neighborhood you’ll enjoy the place.

This property was exactly as represented, but better! It was clean, bright, airy and so so comfortable. We only made coffee and toast in the morning but could have made a complete meal, anything and everything was there for cooking and serving. The location was a quick drive to the River Walk, it was not walkable due to the neighborhood. We would stay here again for sure when visiting San Antonio.

Great spot for a small family weekend

We really enjoyed our stay here for a long weekend with our family. As all of the other reviews mention, the house was extremely clean and accommodating. The hosts were very attentive and responsive! Our daughter loved setting her “new room” and the location itself was extremely close to everywhere we wanted to go. The beds and linens were so comfortable, and everything was super fresh (every towel, every blanket smelled amazing). At first, I was concerned about the neighborhood. Especially staying with a young child, I was caught off guard. However, I took another look at other reviews and agree - I’d describe the neighborhood as gritty but we felt safe. And honestly, not too much different from the other neighborhoods we drove through in San Antonio.

Gentrification - neighborhood is a Work in Progress

Overall, the interior was lovely, my type of antique design with a modern twist. The hosts were accommodating and wonderfully responsive. However, The neighborhood is sketch, it’s going thru gentrification a few houses on the block were condemned and other houses were pretty beat up. I encourage renting this property if you’re not bothered by run down neighborhoods in the process of gentrification. Neighborhood didn’t bother me at all, however my co-worker didn’t handle it well

Anticipates your needs

Texas was hit with unprecedented cold weather during our stay and the owners had an HVAC technician on the way before we could even call to ask about cooler temps inside. And it wasn't the owner's fault because even the large hotel rooms that our colleague's were staying in were not warm. These owners even had space heaters instacarted to the house after they discovered their HVAC systems was fine. They jumped through hoops to make sure we were comfortable!
