On 580 kilometres of hiking trails across all mountains or by mountain bike on 400 kilometres of enjoyable trails: the Upper Engadine offers a first-class network of hiking trails and mountain bike trails in the midst of the pristine mountain world and the inspiring Upper Engadine lake district. The three flow trails on the Corviglia provide the right flow. The lakes of the Upper Engadin are also popular with sports enthusiasts. Families can enjoy the Engadin sunshine on a carriage ride into Val Roseg or Val Fex, or toboggan down into the valley on the 4.2 km long, winding Muottas Muragl toboggan run.

Samedan is not only the district capital, but also the hub of the Rhaetian Railway and home to a small international airport, the highest in Europe.
Despite its economic importance, it has retained its Engadine way of life: in the village centre, traditional rows of houses with sgraffiti make for picture postcard subjects. For those interested in culture, the village has exciting highlights in store, above all the renovated cultural tower "La Tuor" and the traditional "Planta House" with its residential museum and Romansh library.
