Let me start with what I liked: our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the house definitely has a certain charm to it. That being said, the service I received after encountering a WiFi problem was appalling!
Immediately after I first logged on, I got a message saying that I was locked out, so I contacted the house manager. He put me in touch with their tech support person who said it would be impossible for me to log in! He said that I was trying to do file sharing from my computer, which couldn't have been further from the truth.
I surmised that the problem might have been an open BitTorrent client (which was inactive) that I had used at a previous location. I told my tech support guy that I'd closed the client and could he please connect me. He said that he couldn't do that!
Nor was the house manager any help. He apologized but ignored my repeated requests for help. I could not log on with my laptop for the entire stay! I was not trying to file share, but simply trying to access the web and send a couple of emails.
The WiFi problem aside, the place felt a bit tired and rundown. All the flowers in the hotel are fake. The fireplaces are fake. There was a chess board with no pieces. And, lastly—which seems like an accurate reflection of how much care they put into the place—the welcome sign outside, just above the Buddha, has the name of the place spelled incorrectly!
It says: Welcome to Chateau Corlaini. Hello!! Did anybody not notice this or care?
