Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a famous seaside resort on the Basque coast, but it also owes its reputation to its history and its built heritage. It is indeed in the heart of the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste that was celebrated on June 9, 1660 the marriage of Louis XIV with the Infanta Marie Thérèse of Spain. Listed as a Historic Monument, this building with exceptional decor contains a monumental baroque altarpiece in gilded wood and three floors of oak galleries... Sumptuous!

Next, discover the shopping streets of the old corsair town before admiring the emblematic facades of Saint-Jean-de-Luz such as those of the Infante house and the Louis XIV house. Open to the public, the Italian-style house of Infanta Joanoenia, where the Spanish Infanta stayed in June 1660 during her marriage to Louis XIV, houses the so-called Infante room and a superbly decorated 17th century living room. Built in 1643 by a wealthy Lucian shipowner, the Louis XIV House, Lohobiague-Enea, where the young monarch stayed during his wedding, invites you to discover the history of Saint-Jean-de-Luz through its richly furnished rooms.
