Ruaha National Park is one of the top safari spots in the world. It's in Central/Southern Tanzania, near Iringa, and isn't overrun with tourists. I self drove and was able to hire a guide for only $23 for two days. Excellent experience. There are a few cottages in the park where you can stay overnight for $50.

Nice property but bad experience
Property, location & staff were very nice. Be careful they don’t force a guide on you though. They tried to force one on me and it was a bit of a nightmare. Made my stay unenjoyable.
