Goose Island Flats -The Whistler 1 BR 1BA

  • Roomy house with a cottage feel and amazing views! Enjoy beautiful sunrises over the water from your front porch that overlooks St. Charles Bay, as well as lovely sunsets from the west. It's the perfect spot for watching the Whooping Cranes (October - March), Sandhill Cranes and Pink Spoonbills feed around the house or fly over to the pond across the road! Deer and other wildlife feed all around this wonderful natural setting! This amazing property is located just a few minutes away from St. Charles Bay boat launch! There is a nicely appointed king-size main bedroom with a queen-size sofa sleeper in the common area! Behind each house you will find a charcoal grill and there is a fish cleaning station behind the shed.

    The Whistler has beautiful original photographs from around the state. Situated facing East, the Ibis provides amazing views of St. Charles Bay while creating a feeling of retreat.

    Families are welcome and pets are allowed! Please contact the host for requested stays over 14 days. Reserve 1 house or entire property (4 houses including a total of 5 bedrooms plus 4 sleeper sofas and 5 bathrooms) for family gatherings or corporate retreats!

cottage is lovely. Has everything you need. Dog friendly- we really appreciate that. If you want great sunsets, sunrise and solitude, this place is for you. Quiet with lots of wildlife all around. Everyone on Goose Island is so friendly.

Clean and well stocked, over and above any other places we have stayed. Very pet friendly. The location is gorgeous and it was easy to to get to anything we wanted to do. Hosts were accessible and helpful but not intrusive. We especially enjoyed sitting out looking at the bay with a lovely breeze.

Gem cabin in bird heaven!

This little one bedroom cabin was perfect for a quick weekend getaway and we will definitely be back! Beautiful views and peaceful wildlife surrounded us. The owners are very communicative and kind. I can’t wait to come back and stay here during peak migration!

Alittle more secluded than I expected. Wasn’t aware it was water from the well till the day of. But over all experience was great. Melissa was awesome and responded quickly. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect bird watching location!

This cottage is new, modern and lovely. Very comfortable with a front porch view of the bay and pond next door where the whooping cranes, spoonbills, sandhills and more congregate. Just a delight! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again.

Rockport area delight

Cabins are the best run accommodation we have stayed in. The Milligan’s are very thoughtful with supplying their guests with everything you would in your own home. They made it very easy to reach if any questions. We would highly recommend if you are staying in the area.

Great Weekend Getawat spot!

We loved our time here, Melissa and Tim were kind and very helpful, accommodating! The home was very cute, well stocked, clean, easy to locate and comfy! The view is beautiful from the porch, lots of local spots to fish or wander and enjoy the scenery. It was very relaxing and charming and we much enjoyed our time here! Goose island was fun fishing, we loved it.Thank you for a great stay, and for sharing your lovely home with us! Definitely wanting to come back!

The location is perfect for birdwatching with easy access to the major local hotspots. Next time I come, I will bring my kayak and fishing pole, since the bay and marshes are just a quick walk away. You can see a pond and the bay from the deck. The bed was super comfy and the amenities perfect. This is a very cozy place and the host was wonderful. I was able to bring my two dogs, too, and we had a great time at the Rockport Beach.

Great place to stay with fishing boat

Everything was super great working with Melissa. The property manager was awesome. Love the cottage. Plenty of room for parking with a boat. Will be back again soon. ….

Relaxing getaway

We enjoyed how peaceful and relaxing our long weekend getaway was. Although there was a little hiccup with the WiFi connection, Paula was quick to help remedy it. We especially enjoyed listening to the bay breeze, the sunrises, and star gazing. I am glad we brought our daughter’s telescope. We got to see a few shooting stars! Paula’s place is well equipped and suited our family. We’d love to come back.

Great getaway

Birding perfection!

This is the PERFECT place to stay if you’re coming to see the cranes and other beautiful birds. The owner was responsive and nice. Lord of amenities to make our short stay fun.

Lamar Lovelies!

These little tiny houses are just precious. The owner was kind and easy to get in contact with. We have family a couple streets over, and it was SO convenient. You can tell they’re brand new, and they’re equipped with all kinds of amenities including both kinds of coffee makers and even a washer dryer combo. I’m giving it a 4 star rating though for two main reasons. First, the hot water heater was not turned on when we arrived. And as I said earlier we were visiting with family and didn’t get to the property until after 8pm and there was no hot water. In their defense that was one of the first things listed in their visitor binder and we finally found the switch (which was bright red but hidden behind the paper towel holder and completely hidden from view) but reading through that thing wasn’t our first priority coming in late at night with fussy, exhausted, crying 2 and 4 year old children who were ready for baths and bed. And secondly, the pillow situation. There were no pillows included for the pull-out couch bed, only sheets. And the pillows that were in the bedroom were hardly any thicker than the comforter on the bed, and as a result, miserable to sleep on. Great pillows and a comfy memory foam mattress topper in a rental property would go such a long way for guests who rent rental properties frequently and know the difference. All in all though - - - totally worth it and we would rent again!
