Liked being across the street from Mayo Clinic. Very convenient. Felt like rooms were dated. Laid down to take a nap after checkin and woke up sweating. The AC wasn’t working. Had to switch rooms and none of the staff offered to assist with the move which was to a completely different floor and didn’t act very thrilled I requested to be moved at all.

Ease of check-in even though we were several hours early. The cleanliness and ease movement in spite of a lot of construction going on was okay!

recommend that they remove the old rundown bath tubs which have ground in dirt, are chipped and worn. Replace with showers.

Very sorry for the renovation of our lobby. We were pleased to complete the hotel renovation two years ago and another phase to returning this property to its historic grandeur is taking place now. We apologize if you did not see the notice posted on Expedia when making your reservation. We will check into options for additional visibility.

古く清き米国を象徴するような建物と雰囲気のホテルです。 現在正面玄関とロビーを改装中のため チェックインはMフロアで行うため少し不便ですが。。部屋も掃除が行き届いていて 電子レンジやミニ冷蔵庫 コーヒーメーカーも完備されていました。 ロビーにはメキシコ料理のお店がありブリトー🌯をテイクアウトして部屋で食べてもいいと思います。 University Squareまで数分歩けば Chester'sという人気のレストランがあるし、2Fにはイタリアンジェラートのお店もあってどちらもおすすめ。。 歩いて行ける範囲に素敵なお店がたくさんあります、日がくれる前にホテルの近くを歩いてみるのもいいかもしれません。

This was a great place to stay if you are a patient at Mayo Clinic. It is quiet and very luxurious for the price. My only complaint was that the shower was kind of small, but that would not prevent me from staying there the next time I have to make the trip to the Mayor Clinic

If you're seeking full-service lodging in traditional style, Kahler Grand checks all the boxes. My stay was for 3 nights as an outpatient at Mayo Clinic. Because my appointments were tightly scheduled, I wanted the hotel's interconnected levels for walkable interiors to sites. The staff was personable and quick to expedite my needs, and premises are clean, quiet & comfortable, with housekeeping optional during one's stay. I ate a meal in the Lord Essex restaurant, where I relaxed in a red leather booth, enjoying a dinner salad of strawberries/greens/mozz/walnuts, topped with grilled salmon: healthy, beautifully presented & moderately priced. I'd definitely stay at the Kahler Grand again for its convenience, amenities and superb personnel.

Nothing was open - you have an extra 20000 people in town and no shops are open no coffee. It took over an hour to get 2 towels when I finally found cleaning people and asked them for them.

They are undergoing a renovation so check-in was on mezzanine level, which would have been oK, but elevators were broken. The only restaurant attached to the hotel was disgusting, with cracked chairs, inattentive staff. In my room, I had no hot water and after complaining twice, someone came and explained I had to let the water run for 20 minutes to get hot water. I did that, and even then the water was only luckwarm. There is no maid service unless you ask for it, and my curtains were broken. You could not open the windows and it was not possible to turn off the fan. The air inside the room was stifling. The only good part of the hotel was it ws the closest to the clinic, which wsaa the reason we were there. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!

I am sorry for your issues with language at the Front Desk and appreciate that you brought this to our attention. Our staff is trained to use our electronic translators for any language spoken by guests that is not English. We will review with the staff to be sure that this is taking place.

First, Online and in the Hotels book they say they provide shuttle to the airport & hotel, they do not. Second, I called the Front Desk about 9:30pm because the AC was not working. A maintenance guy did come promptly and put his had over the vent. He didn’t say much but went and got a raggedy box fan that when he plugged it in he had to hurry to unplug it. I finally give up and tell him not to worry about finding another one. Well 4am and still no sleep I had to call back. Whomever answered the phone from my room said I’d have to talk with the Front Desk so she transferred me….but no answer. By 5am I had someone on the phone that sent maintenance to go see if the AC worked in an empty room. Barely, but better than nothing so I moved to a different room. I was already so sick and exhausted from Appts at Mayo that I didn’t even sleep in the bed, I just grabbed a sheet and crashed in the chair. There was also a Dance Competition going on so you couldn’t use the pool or hot tub as they were so over crowded. I will never stay in this hotel again.

Please know our concern for your experience. We have combed the internet to be sure that there is no false information online as that definitely creates issues for our guests such as yourself. Our Front Desk staff is trained to provide you with a room that is comfortable if the one that you are in seems to have an issue. We are not sure why you were not moved and deeply regret your issues.

When we arrived at check in, the bathroom was so dirty the shower was not cleaned at all. Due to construction, almost all ways to access this building were limited. You had to go to floor 10 and walk up stairs to access the pool. As with someone with MS this is not an easy task. The pool floor was visibly dirty and unkept. There were limited items in the bathroom such as shampoo/conditioner and only 2 towels were provided. Beds are uncomfortable and also unclean. Will never stay nor recommend this place

I called to ask for housekeeping as soon I got in. No washclothes, floor was dirty, and no Kleenex. I try 3 times and the Front desk said “they’ll BE up”cuz her phone had static. We waited a 2 hours and left to go to appointment. She didn’t want me to put in my 2 sense. Hotel had construction in the lobby and used Mezzanine area that still had construction. This is my Fourth time staying there and WILL NOT Stay there again. Becky Weier

Hotel is under construction, that wasn’t stated on the website. Our room was very small. The bathroom was quite small as well; no counter space. Parking is terribly scarce if you want to be near the hotel with limited walking.

Kahler grand hotel is one of the handiest properties if you are going to Mayo Clinics as it is right across the street! All of my appointments at Mayo Clinics were easily accessible via the subway system that connects to hotel subbasement which kept me from having to out in the chilly rain to get to my appointments. Very handy. The property was also in good repair despite they are in the middle of a remodel. All staff were friendly and helpful.

The Kahler is closest to the Mayo Clinic and easily accessible via elevators and the walking subway system. The renovations made since 2019 were less impressive. The rooms no longer had individual temperature/air controls, the desk personal were not familiar with hotel features as to how to access the pool as the direct elevator was not in service and whether or not towels were available there. Room service was available only upon request prior to noon. There was no prior notice that the front lobby was going to under construction and totally unaccessible with a circuitous detour to the mezzanine. The Kahler Grand has become much less grand.

This was suppose to be newly remodeled.The first elevator we tried to take didn’t even work. It would close the doors and wouldn’t move to the floor we pushed. We tried a couple times even pressing different floors. It was broke. Our room had no hot water. Took 15 minutes to get warm that night. The next morning it did the same thing. But wouldn’t get warm. We told them about this they asked if we wanted maintenance or to move rooms. We choose maintenance but the water got warm by then. Just to go cold once in shower. For what we paid this was a complete disappointment. All they said was sorry. Did nothing at all. Basically asked us if we called, which we did. So trying to put the blame on us. We stayed there because it was close proximity to the hospital. But when you are preparing for a surgery you aren’t expecting to change rooms or wait on maintenance. Once it was hot we thought it would stay that way. I will never stay there again. I asked for maintenance but they never sent it once I said the water was getting warm.

We’d stayed at the Kahler Grand previously and loved it. However, because we booked with Expedia this time (last time booked straight with the hotel), we ended up in horrible rooms. Booked more than one room for family as I had surgery at Mayo while we were there. Our rooms were on completely different floors, though I requested them together. Because we booked through Expedia, they would only allow us to have certain rooms. Our room was blazing hot. We called the front desk and they said they’d have maintenance come but they never did. We had our window open all day and night (it was Feb) and the room remained in the mid 80s throughout our stay. Very disappointing stay for several days. We won’t book again.

However, we must admit, the first three elevators deciding to take an unexpected vacation to the 10th floor without you sounds like quite the adventure. This hotel is close to the Mayo Clinic and many patients stay here. It was very loud with multiple young families attending a wrestling contest in Rochester, Would suggest that this is not a good combination for guests and at the very least, Young loud children should be housed on floors separate from patients.

Bath water was red from rust / iron. Room had dust everywhere even on vertical surfaces, parking ramp perpetually full, TV didn’t work until serviced by staff. Lobby has major deferred maintenance
