"The Woodberry was in a tranquil location in the reservation. The safari drives were good with knowledgeable trackers and the apres safari drinks around the fire was a nice touch. The lodges were spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly. It's a shame wifi is not available in the lodges. The only disappointment for us was the food. Breakfast was fine though you need to order it the night before. Lunch was a buffet and dinner needed to be ordered too but with a very limited choice and...

"A luxury all- inclusive game lodge experience. The 8km drive from the main road is dirt and gravel so a little challenging for our tiny hire car. A warm welcome on arrival and our room was very spacious and comfortable ( the bed was quite hard but perhaps the mattress was new). An indoor and outdoor shower meant you could wash under the incredible stars in the night sky if so inclined. Lodge was comfortable and well decorated if slightly lacking in atmosphere. "We stayed at the hotel/Pollards Inn. It is a beautiful place but maybe we will try the Lodges next time as they are actually inside the game area, although they are VERY quiet. This could be made clearer in the bookings. So if you want a bit more activity then stay at the Inn. But if you want less activity and more direct viewing of animals then stay in the Lodges. "You’re right on the edge of the best reserve in the area & the game drives are all on the Shamwari Game Reserve. These are better than we ever expected & our ranger/guide, Cillia, was the best! Daniel at the Lodge managed everything for us & was always there for our needs, nothing was too much trouble & he ensured everything ran like clockwork. Cynthia was brilliant, always smiling and calm, Ntombi was also excellent and helped us with our questions about local culture. Overall superb!"

"From arrival to departure, the stay at Founders Lodge was superb. The Pod room has an amazing view over the Game Reserve (even from the shower!). Food is exceptional, and serving lunches and dinners from different locations within the Lodge/grounds was a nice touch. All staff are friendly, polite and good at what they do! "Loodt was very helpful. He suggested to pick us in the night from a nearby train station, on a short notice and with no extra payment. "Downtown area, a bit rundown, but wide street and Hotel is situated close to Bars and restaurants, there is a bottle shop next door and so could be a sound issue (no double glazing). Air-conditioning was excellent, one of the best I have had outside of USA.Hotel is a bit dated, but staff are friendly and helpful, only bed issue was it was 2 singles pushed together but made up as 2 singles, so a bit cramped."
