We are very sorry Quarry House didn't match your expectations. We pride ourselves on consistently providing a special experience for our guests and feel the vast majority of reviews are testament to that. Where occasionally issues do arise we make every effort to address them immediately. We have a very committed and flexible team looking after Quarry House and as you acknowledge we addressed all issues you raised with us within a matter of hours. Addressing your concerns specifically: Cleaning - there is no specific cleaning fee related to COVID, but rather an itemisation of the general cleaning costs. Like yourselves our team have high expectations to cleanliness. Our excellent and dedicated team of cleaners typically spend 10-14 hours cleaning after each rental, and we never place any pressure on them to limit the time they spend. We are sorry that we fell short on this ocassion. Our team routinely deep clean all areas, and we specifically block-out times for this. Such issues are very rare, as seen by the other reviews, and we hope our quick reaction to have the cleaning team attend within about 1 hour helped to mitigate your disappointment. Hot tub - our guests really enjoy the hot tub and we are pleased you found it an excellent addition. Our team spend significant time before, during and after rentals maintaining the hot tub. We are unsure about the broken seal you mention, as we understand you reported a loose lid on the chlorine dosing floater (which was replaced with a new one immediately), but any issues will be picked up by our team. Broken blind and cafetiere - occasionally items can break, and make every effort to resolve these immediately. Again we understand that the blind was refitted within a few hours and alternative coffee making facilities were available. The broken chairs and tiles and loose slabs, which weren't specifically reported, will of course be investigated and resolved at the earliest opportunity. Holes in ground outside - we are sorry to hear about your accident. The grounds at Quarry House stretch to 3 acres and we are careful to check that the main throughfares are clear from such tripping hazards. Unfortunately it is not possible to eradicate all such hazards given the nature of the grounds at Quarry House, and the inevitable activity of the wildlife which also make Quarry House grounds their home. We do also make this clear in our guide issued to guests prior to their visit. Although we are not aware of the specific hole you mention we will check this when we visit this weekend. Need for major update and decoration throughout - we are somewhat baffled by these comments. Several areas of the house, including the lounge, the kitchen units and upstairs windows have been recently decorated and all areas are routinely touched up, at least every other month. We will of course review this when we visit at the weekend. We regularly refresh furniture and fittings in and outside the house. You mentioned brand new patio furniture, we have also recently replaced the kitchen table and chairs, some new beds upstairs to provide greater flexibility, a new pool table, new items of cookware, new washing machine and tumble drier, new cooker range, new stairgate to mention a few. We feel it is very unfair to say the the property requires a major update, but of course we guess this will perhaps always be a subjective matter. We would simply conclude by noting that we are passionate about making sure Quarry House is a great experience for our guests, and we typically stay there ourselves every month. We have a fabulous, committed and very flexible team who have worked with us for many years and go to great lengths to attend to any issues that arise. Amanda & Chris

Thank you for the feedback Charlotte, we appreciate hearing about all guest experiences both positive and negative. Firstly we apologise that some aspects were not up to the standard you expected. We work hard to provide a positive experience to all our guests and will of course reflect on all your comments. Addressing your specific points: 1. Bath/Shower rooms - following previous feedback and experiences we reached the decision that the bathroom was not really suited to showering. Due to ceiling restrictions the shower curtain area is very limited and as a result we have experienced some issues with flooding. We had understood that the issue with the shower downstairs had been resolved, and this had been checked with yourselves. We are always available on the phone to respond to ongoing issues, and commit to resolve issues as quickly as possible. We understand there can be large numbers to get through the shower, which is why we have a directly heated system to ensure the hot water doesn't run out. We have just stayed at the property ourselves and found the shower to be functioning fine with good pressure, but will obviously continue to monitor the situation with the shower and apologise for your experience. 2. Hot tub temperature - whilst we do not necessarily need to empty and refill the hot tub for every booking, legislation does require us to do this regularly. We try and avoid this where there are bookings of less than 7-days, but this is dependent on the condition the hot-tub has been left in by previous guests. On this occasion it was necessary to empty and re-fill. It takes at least 5 hours to empty, clean and re-fill and a further 18 hours for the hot-tub to reach temperature. Unfortunately this situation is unavoidable and we consider the health and safety of our guests is the most important factor even if that means on a few occasions the hot-tub is not available for the first night. 3. We are surprised to hear the house-keepers arrived at 07:45 as we are never aware of them arriving before 10:00. We will of course address that. We are aware the gardener sometimes arrives earlier. To avoid disturbing guests during their stay we seek to limit grounds maintenance to changeover days. There is 3 acres of grounds to look after, so at certain times of the year there is a need for our gardener to start a little earlier. However, we have agreed that they will only work higher up in the land, away from the property, so guests are not disturbed. We apologise that was not the case for your visit and again will address this.

Large towns such as Leominster and Hereford are, as you indicate, approx. 30 minutes away. We would note that there are two smaller towns nearby: Presteigne, which is 5 minutes drive, has 3 pubs/bars, several takeaway premises, several restaurants, and a variety of shops and convenience stores. Kington, which is 10 minutes drive away, has a much larger number of shops, including a co-op, and many bars, pubs and restaurants. There are also a number of lovely restaurants and pubs nearby: The Harp in New Radnor (5 mins drive), The Stag in Titley (10 mins drive), The Cider Barn and Kings House in Pembridge (15-20 mins drive).
