  • Welcome to Sage House! This relaxing lakeside sanctuary is the perfect getaway for family and friends!

    I've always loved designing cozy spaces for friends and family to gather and building a lake cabin has always been a dream of mine. Every part of this home was created to help guests connect with nature and one another. The gorgeous lakefront windows let you experience the outdoors while enjoying the fireplace, watching movies, playing games, cooking, or listening to albums on the Victrola record player.

    The bedrooms have been designed in soothing sage green, cream, and natural wood tones for a peaceful night's sleep after long days playing on the lake. Enjoy Smore's by the outdoor fire pit, relax with a glass of wine or coffee in the lounge area on the lakefront deck, play a game of horse shoes, make dinner on the grill and eat at the outdoor dining table.

    This is a natural shoreline (not a beach) and there are lake weeds so if you don't like swimming in them (like me), we have floaties for getting out past the weeds. A two person kayak is available for exploring the lake as well. There is a dock to tie up your boat (water is shallow at dock- just a few feet).

    Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi is only 15 minutes away and quaint downtown Park Rapids is just a short 10 minute drive. The Heartland bike trail starts in Park Rapids and goes to Walker where if you're really ambitious you can connect to the Paul Bunyan Trail system. There are several golf courses within 15 minutes drive and for snow mobile and ATV enthusiasts, you can ride to trails right from the cabin.

This was probably the nicest cabin we have ever stayed in. It is very cute and quaint but all modern including soft water, a treat in the North Country! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and also in the Park Rapids area. Easy drive to Itasca, Park Rapids has fun shops and we caught a Thursdays on Second concert downtown. Definitely willnseek this out next time we come up! Oh, and we canoed on Portage Lake and saw: muskrats, a beaver, bald eagle, pelicans, 2 families of loons, king fishers, 2 huge red headed woodpeckers, an osprey, many other birds and too many gray and black squirrels to count. No kidding. It was a blast!

Amazing lake cottage getaway!

Peaceful cabin retreat

Cabin was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. Check in process was super easy. The property and lake access is very peaceful. We saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed the views of the water. Easy drive into Park Rapids as well. 100% would stay here again.

Awesome spot!

I can’t say enough good things about this property. We needed a place to stay last minute in Park Rapids and the host was nice enough to accommodate our date request. The cabin had everything you would need for your stay, and it was extremely cozy & clean. If we ever come back to the area for a longer stay, I would definitely book here again.

Pleasant and cozy central MN getaway

Spent a nice long winter weekend getaway here. Cold weather but the house stayed cozy and warm. Had everything we needed and was convenient to Park Rapids. Just wish it was a tad warmer outside so we could have enjoyed the fire pit. But the indoor fireplace was great!

This was our 2nd time staying at this property as we just love everything about it. The location, the feeling of such a cozy & comfortable cabin. The beds are wondering, the property is clean and features all the necessities a person needs. We wanted for nothing. We will be back.

WONDERFUL WORK/VACATION

We are building a new business in town and need a place to feel at home while we work and we found it. It is great location and peaceful surroundings and right by the lake! It felt like our own and our host was great!! Being just north of Park Rapids on Hwy 71 it is a quick drive to local restaraunts and bars too! Will be back again for sure!!! Love it!!

Such a cute cottage!

We loved our stay and had a good mix of hiking, sitting by the lake and fire, and lounging in the cottage. We spent the first night in the room with the shorter queen bed but it was a bit too soft so if you like/need a firmer mattress, the taller queen bed is the way to go. The cottage is cute and cozy, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I also enjoyed the perennial gardens - - that's a nice touch. Highly recommend!

Great!

This was a perfect spot for my husband and I to stay for a little R&R. We were in close proximity to Itasca State Park and Park Rapids is a cute little town with lots to offer. The cabin was just as pictured; very charming and cozy and decorated with care. The location was quiet during our stay so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Worked great for a campfire one night and a pleasant place to sit outside and enjoy the scenery or read a good book. The owner was wonderful to work with as well. We wouldn't hesitate to go back for another visit.

Girls weekend

My friend and I had a wonderful long weekend at this beautiful property!! It was perfect for our needs and meticulously cared for!! The location to Park Rapids could not be an easier short drive! We went into town everyday for shopping and eating. Very peaceful setting by the lake we spent a lot of time sitting outside and having bonfires every night! The cabin has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable vacation! Thank you Deanne for providing such a wonderful place for people to enjoy!!

Nice small home on lake in Park Rapids

Two couples stayed at Sagehouse rental home in Park Rapids for a long golfing weekend. The house was small but perfect size for our group. It had all the amenities needed for us to grill a steak dinner. It also has a great sitting area for a fire at night. The property has a great view of the lake and is quiet and peaceful. We did not go swimming but property has a nice dock. The property was convenient to Headwaters golf course and to downtown Park Rapids for lunch or dinner. I enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place for two couples or a family.

Darling!

My friends and I loved our stay at Deanne’s Sage Cottage, it was simply darling! I squealed when I walked through the door. It was even more beautiful in person than online, it was like being in a magazine. Deanne was an excellent host. She was super nice, super easy work with and very responsive; she made us feel truly welcome. Deanne thought of every detail, from the lovely welcome card and delicious chocolates that greeted us as we walked through the door, to the personal care products, to the beautiful furnishing - it was exquisite! The outside of the cottage was just as charming with a yard filled with flowers and comfortable seating areas. It made for a very enjoyable girls getaway. I highly recommend it!

Lovely Getaway!! :)

We loved our stay here - Deanne was so accommodating and kind and we were in lack of nothing! She literally thought of everything and was prompt with communication. The cabin is furnished and decorated so tastefully - fully functional and beautiful too. Kitchen fully equipped, beds comfy. We enjoyed a low-key weekend just the two of us watching the wildlife and relishing the peace and quiet over cups of coffee then hit the trails of Itasca (super close by) with the bikes. We ventured into town for a beer and walked the cute downtown streets. There's a really good chance I bought some candy from a few of the local shops and shopkeepers and staff were friendly. ;) Weather was perfect with lots of sun and a few cool clouds. Planning to return again in July with kids along as well. Thanks again, Deanne, we are so appreciative of your efforts to make things so welcoming and we are so looking forward to coming back!! :)
