"This was our first time staying at a hotel that wasn't staffed. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodations were very modern. Plenty of hot water. Easy access to both train and bus stations. Walking distance to a variety of restaurants and grocery stores. Quiet. We didn't hear street noise. Stairs are steep, as others have noted. "The staff at this hotel are way above what you normally encounter. What an absolute delight. Whoever trains their people deserves a star as consistently high standards are notoriously hard to achieve. I also like the location which is lovely and tranquil with pretty great views. The food and drink choice should also be commended. I stay daily regularly around the area for work and now I’ve found this gem, will definitely stay again."

"Very nice staff but the hotel is of extreeme poor standards. The rooms were sort of clean but carpets were very dirty. We had 2 rooms, 1 of standard room-size and 1 smaller than a closet. Breakfast options were small and we got offered just coffee or juice. Not both so we hade to decide. Everything about this hotel itself, the surroundings, the breakfast etc was so bad that se decided to leave the hotel after just 1 night allthough we had prepaid for 2 nights. "A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got.
